The contradiction is that nobody started saying "All Lives Matter" until people were saying "Black Lives Matter", and "All Lives Matter" is spouted as a catchphrase soley to shut down people saying "black lives matter".

Anyway, if somebody said "All Lives Matter", I guarantee you the later ended up protesting for their right to risk their life and the life of everyone around them by getting a haircut and eating mediocre burgers with cheap cocktails at Aplebees.

What is their obsession with Applebee's? Is it literally just that article from a while about Millennials, apparently, killing it because we're too broke to go out to eat, anymore? It couldn't be that the food ain't great, either. No, it's GOT to be those damn kids, blah blah, hippies. blah blah, Avacado toast, blah blah, everyone born post-Watergate is a waste of space, at best, blah blah...

Applebee’s is an interesting symbol. So restaurant-ing has always been a perilous prospect, sky high failure rate and all that right? But one of the safer bets was doing a semi-family friendly pub-type place, where you had a full bar and a full menu, usually a mix of steakhouse and American diner fare.

But in the past 10 or so years almost all of the small local versions of those dried up outside large cities, and so Applebee’s, their corporate substitute, was sorta the last man standing. So for a lot of people in suburbia, “Applebee’s” is symbolic of all casual dining that would involve drinks and tips, and thus symbolic of the way they expect to be able to treat service staff.

I doubt it is either, but we got some very damned, pardon my swearing here, okay? Irresponsible leaders who are encouraging this splinter groups popping up. I'll simultaneously say Black Lives Matter right alongside All Lives Matter, because I don't see a contradiction inherent. And I'll add White Lives Matter as well. I saw one embarrassing hashtag that said #OnlyWhiteLivesMatter and my jaw dropped. Even if it's trolling, the H is wrong with you?

I don't understand how one couldn't see a contradiction. There's no understanding of it as a movement that isn't an inherent contradiction of Black Lives Matter.

Like, the KKK state that they're just misunderstood, but All Lives Matter is diametrically opposed to Black Lives Matter practically as a mission statement. There's no possible way you can describe any aspect of it aside from the title by itself to be innocuous.

Also Egalitarian doesn't really clash the same way with Feminism since they are both largely abstract theory movements, but in practice, people bringing up Egalitarian functions solely as a dismissal of Feminism.

I'm guessing anonymity and the rise of racial identitarian politics (which of course is going to cause more white identitarianism; if you feel attacked, there will be an impulse to fight back).

But we've always had jerks. Twenty years ago we would have been exposed to fewer people's political opinions, and now, with the rise of social media, every village idiot has a megaphone.

I'd agree that black lives matter, white lives matter, all lives matter. It's funny that some people see any of those as an attack.

Oh indeed. Rise of social media / normalization of internet among everybody.

Also politics wasn't agonized by college bachelors. Though it's definitely more astute and over a broad base of people.

That seemed to have been a typo. I meant as I say them, I don't dispute the way blacks have had the decks stacked against them.

As far as All Lives Matter though, what do you take that to mean? How do you find it non contradictory to Black Lives Matter?
