See what I mean? That's a cause to be concerned. It's the little token woman for him. If it wasn't for my mom, I'd sit this election out as usual.

The big question is, what states do you think he's gonna carry? I think he could genuinely get less votes than Mr. 45, yet nab the electoral college. There's your democracy in action, folks.
I had the sneaking suspicion since a while now. Is that you, Yukaphile? Is this your real persona as opposed to the constructed one we know already? Or are you just more stable thanks to therapy and medication now?
It is certainly something I can see him doing. And I don't mean anything nasty about that, it is just that his old handle has a lot of history attached to it. If he has gotten himself into a good place, I would be all for him starting anew if that makes him feel comfortable. Personally I would settle for knowing that he is ok - i am concerned for what support network he has.
Well, since this is me you're talking about, and don't worry, not taking offense! Perhaps to clear the air, you could ask something you think might have triggered this Yukaphile person, and confirm that for yourself? As I agree to the same just from older comments, that Yukaphile seems to have serious psychological problems. Because I am not him, sorry. Going off topic a little bit is fine, I guess, in this case.

I think where Kami is coming from is that you two do share similar-ish political views and you started on the forum roughly around when Yuka declared that he was going to quit.

But like I say, if you are him, that's cool. I understand completely why you would want to shed that handle. If not, that's cool too, more the merrier :)

Yes, indeed to the second, because foot traffic here seems very light compared to other messageboards, even less-reputed ones.

Anyway, can we get back on topic now?

Come on, guys. As y'all should know if anyone would, someone who goes by "Captain Crimson" would never reveal his secret identity. :)

As to my real persona? Sorry, I ain't Ben Tennyson. I ain't giving that away. ;)

And what of it when they want to put one on every man, woman, and child. Where do we draw the line? It's a conundrum that shakes the very roots of our system of liberty.
Anyone who works in retail is already subject to surveilance every minute they are on the job. Those cameras aren't really for theft protection, you know. So it makes sense that the people who can literally get away with murder get at least as much scrutiny as the poor abused bastards at rite-aid. That, or any call to get police not to have body cameras should be accompanied by a broader crackdown on surveillance culture including the removal of cameras from drug stores and Spencer's Gifts and the like.

Wait, what? What do you mean? I'd always thought that was there so that you could ID any thieves that come in. Is there abuse occasionally? Sure. But it sounds like theft protection to me.

It's not abuse of the system, it's the purpose of the system. As they say, it's a bug, not a feature. At best, catching thieves is a fringe benefit. The main purpose is to spy on employees.

Is it, really? On what grounds do you base this on? That employees could be fired by stuff they say or do while on tape? I mean, that sucks, but they should know it's there, right? Besides, I think it'd be a great comfort in someone's final moments if they were about to be gunned down knowing the security camera could at least ensure those guilty would be caught. Whether you will get an appropriate conviction and a responsible level of justice, however, is up to the courts.

Anyway, it's 1:33 AM, it was hard at work, I'm gonna go pass out. Catch all ya beautiful people later.

Darth Wedgius wrote: Thu May 07, 2020 7:23 pm I said BLM, right? Not "Campaign Zero." If you look closely, you'll see that the spelling is significantly different.

BLM's demands included, “An end to the mass surveillance of Black communities, and the end to the use of technologies that criminalize and target our communities (including IMSI catchers, drones, body cameras, and predictive policing software).”

I don't expect an apology. That would be unrealistic from such as you.

My reference to a toy gun was about the shooting of Tamir Rice. Police confronted him in response
to public complaints that he was pulling a gun out of his pants and pointing it at people. His gun later turned out to be an airsoft replica from which the orange tip had been removed.
Yes, there's no single "Black Lives Matter" group. It started as a Twitter Hashtag. Campaign Zero is a major one. Here's some more direct links:

National Action Network: https://nationalactionnetwork.net/about/#policeaccountability
The Leadership Conference: https://www.bwcscorecard.org/

But yes, seeing as #BlackLivesMatter is a Twitter hashtag, I'm sure you have a tweet that you can quote. Or something.

You know, let me give you one chance. My current opinion is that you are vapid trash, mentally and logically incapable of engaging in any discussion of issues beyond spouting out random nonsense to distract from the actual issues we were discussing. Ninty-nine times out of one hundred, when someone looks like a systemic issue like racism in America, police brutality, and the criminalization of skin color and comes out with a statement like "Black Lives Matter opposes body cameras!" they are deliberately derailing the discussion. But hey, maybe you are the one in a hundred who is just ill-informed and spouting off stuff others have told you without context. If you show me in your next post you have some semblance of honesty and dignity, I'll treat you as something other than the 99%.

As for Tamar Rice, are you aware that cops were convicted of planting toy guns on shooting victims: https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/8xvzwp/baltimore-cops-carried-toy-guns-to-plant-on-people-they-shot-trial-reveals-vgtrn

Do you fully believe Tamar Rice actually had a toy gun? Do you think the police cared? Do you think police use toy guns as an excuse to murder, and carry weapons and contraband to place on bodies? If you don't, can you explain all the evidence we have of police doing exactly that?

Why are you trying to justify the shooting of a child over protesting the police literally planting evidence? Why does it strike you that justifying the murder of a 13 year old is more important than dealing with the fact that the police are literally using planted weapons as a method to murder people and get away with it?

BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: Thu May 07, 2020 4:23 pm Wait, which part is he lying about? That BLM doesn't want body cams?
Yes, clearly. I linked to one of the Black Lives Matter groups, who has a very well laid out section on police body cams and how they want them implemented (aka no facial recognition, no officers turning them off, etc.) As you can see, I linked to many more.

He provided one unsourced quote that probably goes to some twitter post.

A bigger fact is that BLM is about far more than bodycams. Bodycams are pretty much a distraction in many respects. Without systemic reform, all that will happen is that Bodycams will malfunction at critical junctures, or evidence will be faked. We already have one cop convicted of planting evidence because he misunderstood how his body cam worked. How many non-morons do you think tried this and got away with it, "discovering" the evidence on body camera, evidence that was planted while the camera was off (proof: https://www.baltimoresun.com/news/crime/bs-md-ci-pinheiro-ruling-20181109-story.html)

Body cameras are only a band aid on a gaping wound. There's a lot more that needs to be done.
