I requested this one so felt right I make the thread on it.
I'm only 10 minutes into the video though and laughing my ass off.
Lot of a reason I requested this was super hammy Inspector Jenks

I am the one who requested Chuck review Kannazuki No Miko. (under an old alias)
I count it among the most despicable things I have ever done to another human being and I'm sorry.
Things I have requested that are not evil:
* Anna's Quest
* Contradiction
* TECHNOBABYLON

Re: Contradiction
It seems like all Detective fiction just accepts cops breaking the law to solve crimes.

Re: Contradiction
in most of the detective fiction I've been exposed to (which I'll be doing a long video series on REALLY soon by weird happenstance) the cops cant do anything and its the hero detective that solves the case - in this game you never even see an officer - just Jenks by his lonesome.MithrandirOlorin wrote:It seems like all Detective fiction just accepts cops breaking the law to solve crimes.

Re: Contradiction
Spoiler Warning
After his speculation about Jenks not being a real police officer i found myself not wanting to finish the review. That idea is so brilliant they need to make a game about that, or maybe as a bonus stage; something you can unlock if you find ALL the clues. It also works perfectly i mean the game is called 'contradiction' and Jenks would be the biggest contradiction of them all! When i realized that was not the case i lost all interest in the story because anything else would be such a let down...

Re: Contradiction
I think there is a Speculative Fiction angle to this game: Petty theft, possibly insane, randomly breaks rules for no reason, rakes through other people's trash...yup, we've found one of Jonathon Archer's ancestors here.
I dunno though, I think I'd still rather just watch an episode of Endeavour or Midsomer Murders if I wanted weird campy detectives in rural England.

As far as anomalies go...what about his The Dark Knight review? It's not much in the way of speculation or advanced technology.CrypticMirror wrote:I think there is a Speculative Fiction angle to this game: Petty theft, possibly insane, randomly breaks rules for no reason, rakes through other people's trash...yup, we've found one of Jonathon Archer's ancestors here.

Re: Contradiction
I remember some of the old rules of adventuring...
1) Take anything that isn't nailed down
2) Look for loose nails
But anyway, I can't say I've played this one, but it does seem kinda interesting from this review. I might have to think about it.

Re: Contradiction
No joke, before Chuck said something, I saw that guy's outfit and heard "detective" and thought, "That guy is going to turn out not to be a detective". I might have been conditioned to expect too elaborate a twist over the years.

Re: Contradiction
It has a man dressed as a freaking bat with supermachines and a super radar phone setup. Even if you don't believe Superheros are automatically SFF, then it still falls into cyberpunk. I don't understand this urge people have to try and get Batman out of the SFF genre.phantom000 wrote:As far as anomalies go...what about his The Dark Knight review? Re: Contradiction
Maybe a little but the performances really make it a worthwhile romp regardless - I found the ending it did have to be perfectly fine and it was barely a letdown at all.phantom000 wrote:Spoiler Warning

Cmon do it for paul darrow it's worth it just for his scenes - it's $10 on steam - so not to shaddy for a few hours of deductions.
