Did you even look at the video? It was Joe Biden stumping about George Floyd, the black man who was killed by police in Minneapolis yesterday. Trump wasn't even mentioned, much less his past.Captain Crimson wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 8:26 pmIf we're gonna cite sources from Mr. 45's past, then Mr. Biden's past is absolutely free game.

This doesn't sound like that strong of an exploit in political circus terms.Captain Crimson wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 7:42 pmThat is hardly what I am inferring at all. I'm saying, however, the left is having their own hypocrisy shoved in their face. If you have problems with Mr. 45's stance on racial views, you should have issues on Mr. Biden's stance on racial views. If you have problems with Mr. 45's stance on women's issues, you should have problems with Mr. Biden's stance on women's issues. And so forth.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 7:07 pmSo your claim here is that the left who hates racism will vote for guy on the racist side because he called their running horse racist?Captain Crimson wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 6:18 pmIt's literally a choice now between which racist that you want in office, which bigot, which sexist, which r$%^@#, which senior citizen that is behind the times. Yeah, he's horrible, but that's who he's always been and we know that. What's the DNC's excuse for thinking you gotta fight fire with fire?

Re: The great 2020 election thread....
I saw it. Mr. Biden can talk about this all he wants. But I don't trust him. Here is a man who's failed to win the White House two times in a row. And if you can't trust your candidates, then what really makes him any different than Mr. 45? He's less a candidate and more of a general stamp of approval by the DNC leadership. They are telling you, "Come vote for us! Our policies are better!" So you are not even voting for Mr. Biden, but who he puts in as his advisors. Even his VP will step up to succeed him in five or six years. Mr. 45 is absolutely right on that.
There's a huge enthusiasm gap for this man. And that's a big problem, especially when Mr. 45's base are unlikely to participate in polls, except those you can rig online which make them unreliable, so that the secret voter Mr. 45 has going for him is as valid as ever to conjecture about. BTW, I've been doing more research on Mr. Biden's, since if I'm going to vote for the first time ever, I want to be well-informed, you know? And I found this isn't the first time he said, "Go vote for the other guy," OMG... it's like he's trying to lose.

This is nonsensical. And I fail to see how him losing twice is supposed to be significant like at all.But I don't trust him. Here is a man who's failed to win the White House two times in a row. And if you can't trust your candidates, then what really makes him any different than Mr. 45?

My larger point is that Mr. Biden only really feels like a reasonable alternative in the post-2016 world. His 1988 bid ended because he was caught plagiarizing a speech. And in 2008, is it any wonder when he implies Mr. Obama's spotless criminal background make him an anomaly?BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 10:00 pmThis is nonsensical. There is also something to note, however. A lot of statistics I've read, and I know they can be biased, is that distrust for the mainstream news is higher than it ever has been. So their ringing endorsement over Mr. Biden and disapproval over Mr. 45 is more likely to encourage people to vote for him, I think. Unless they get their act together and start owning up to their own hypocrisy, and fast. It's ridiculous that for Mr. 45's allegations, he's evil, while Mr. Biden is just a slightly darker shade of black.
I still think a lot of his voters are not really open to admit it. Because as this messageboard proves, the truth is far more complex than orthodoxy and dogmatism lead you to think. They know that they will face public backlash, get called bigots which they don't want to be labeled as whether you think they are or not, and they are not likely to participate in polling anyway, past online polls.
The first wave of negative ads hitting the airwaves are the true live-or-die moment for the democrats. I've said that before. No one has addressed it. It is because so far, Mr. 45 has pounced on Mr. Biden's comments: "You don't vote for me, you ain't black!" And this was in response to his vote on the 1994 crime bill. You just don't get any more tone-deaf than that. Whatever his faults, even if he's lying (and we all know he's a liar), Mr. 45 has way more confidence in what he says and does.
But that's just my feeling, however.

There hasn't really been a president that's been vilified as much as Trump. With the 2016 election you could probably say that a lot of people didn't even vote because they thought Hillary would win. This is as much a Democrat vs Republican race as any election before it and then some. But you are correct that it is simmering at best.Captain Crimson wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 10:36 pmMy larger point is that Mr. Biden only really feels like a reasonable alternative in the post-2016 world. But check it though, any sensible comparison between Trump and Biden on matters of racism is pretty contrastive. You kind of make it sound like their shortcomings just cancel themselves out, but people from all walks have a consistent understanding of what a douchebag Trump is, whether that's the nuleftists or conventional republicans.

The bar IS low, regardless of what you let it or not. 45 has been stamping the bar towards china ever since he contemplated running for office.Captain Crimson wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 4:50 pmI wasn't even talking to you, specifically. I don't like it either. I would like a broader range of options between "The guy doing everything in his power to make the pandemic worse, and a guy not doing that", but we have a two-party system. If I can survive this misery and degregation, so can you.

By the media. Those same silent voters that put him there and threw the polling methodology into chaos are still there, and unlikely to tell their true feelings to the establishment, given that mistrust toward our institutions is at an all-time high. And they dug this grave themselves. So my thinking was any bashing done against Mr. 45 by the media and any strengthening of a very weak candidate like Mr. Biden is likely to actually boost his unseen popularity - especially with all the awful double standards coming to the fore. "Believe all women!" Until it is inconvenient to our agenda.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 11:41 pmThere hasn't really been a president that's been vilified as much as Trump. They don't cancel each other out. But Mr. Biden is only just marginally better. And did they understand that in 2016? Yes. That's why they voted for him. To enrage the establishment, everyone else, and to give themselves license to feel angry, like he was telling them. I am telling you, it's less that the electorate want good, strong policies than they want the illusion of good, strong policies and most especially if the former conflicts with their personal opinions. How many Trump voters will go to Mr. Biden, which seems to be the DNC's strategy? I think very little, TBH. He's given them an outlet to blame and to express their anger, and while they're coping in an unhealthy fashion, we have a lot to be angry about in our society. Mr. 45's voters will rightfully see Mr. Biden as a weakling who can't stand up to a professional bully.

I understand your frustrations with Biden. What I do not understand is your need to taut them and crow over them, cackling at the potential demise of any chance to unseat Lord Dampnut like a half-remembered nightmare glimpsed through a broken mirror of loss and regret.
