Captain Crimson wrote: Wed May 27, 2020 1:23 am Which is why I feel he is going to face reelection, though I also think Mr. Biden could squeak out an EC win.

That would be ironic in two ways, wouldn't it? Imagine a result where Mr. Biden gets less votes than Mr. 45, but takes it through the EC?
You don't know much about politics, do you? The Democrats have had a strong popular vote advantage for about the last 20 years. This is because Blue states are very blue and very populous (in general).
And they lost in 2000 and 2016 as well.
Yeah, and? The Democrats have won the popular vote for every presidential election in the last 20 years except 04 when Bush swept the swing states. Biden losing the popular vote but winning is implausible.
My impression seems to be they've put up a nominee who is as racist and sexist as Mr. 45 is. And even if you want to argue the policy positions are worlds apart, which they are, that will not matter to the larger swaths of the electorate. Mr. Biden's gaffes are legendary to the point it's going to come across like voting for a Wal-Mart brand knock-off to Mr. 45. That's the DNC's strategy, it appears. Present an alternative to Mr. 45 by nominating somebody who appeals to the GOP. Except Mr. 45 is way better as a performer. He has had years of practice with this. And nowhere is the choice made more plain as to how both parties are pretty much the same thing except on a superficial level than in 2020.

Plus we know from 2016 people voting for Mr. 45 withheld their true opinions on polls because they were embarrassed to admit it. How much of that still holds true? There's that potential unknown as an X factor. Mr. 45 gives people license to feel angry, and there is a lot to feel angry about in our society right now, so that's appealing to some people. To find something or someone to blame for all their ills and telling them it's their fault will not win them over. In short, I suspect that Mr. 45 is going to make mincemeat of Mr. Biden, which is why the first round of campaign ads hitting the airwaves is so vital. It's a true testing moment.

I also admit I don't keep up-to-date on news as much as I should and I haven't even considered voting until now. IT is fascinating from a social historical perspective, to spot patterns repeating through the ages, but depressing from a real-world perspective when it's people acting this way to each other. So, maybe could you fill in the gaps to where I'd gone wrong here? I'd love to her your presentation!

Hey, Crimson?

I notice Biden is wearing his face mask. You know what he's not doing? Mocking reporters for wearing face masks https://www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-reporter-mask-politically-correct-coronavirus_n_5ecdc23fc5b6141aaf1bc7cb?utm_medium=facebook&ncid=fcbklnkushpmg00000063&utm_source=main_fb&utm_campaign=hp_fb_pages calling it "politically correct" and making sure all his party members will now have to reject face masks if they want to be good and loyal party members.

How dare you ignore this difference of magnitudes, and and how dare you force me to defend Biden.

Something else Biden didn't do https://www.npr.org/2020/05/26/862018484/trump-team-killed-rule-designed-to-protect-health-workers-from-pandemic-like-cov?sc=18&f=1001 killing a rule designed to protect health workers from Pandemics

I don't have a lot of good things to say for Biden, but at least he isn't actively fighting ON THE SIDE OF THE VIRUS!

Is he really doing this because he believes in this, or is it just good PR? Granted, he hasn't tweeted out crazy conspiracies about injecting yourself full of bleach, so it's worth minuscule praise. I say that because it is common sense.

DOES IT MATTER WHY? Regardless of his deep-down true-self quintessential motives, Biden is doing his part to NOT spread the virus, and 45 is doing everything in his power to make it worse short of enacting federally mandated doorknob-licking minimums!

If you spread lingering death or slow the spread of lingering death, it doesn't really matter if you're doing it ironically.

I suspect Trump is frequently tested. I doubt he's spreading the virus by going without a mask.

I'd like to play Devil's Advocate here, since I literally don't hate anyone here.

Seriously, actions... well... trump intentions. It feels weird to use that word, anymore.
