Re: DIS - Project Deadalus
I am sick and tired of the Michael Show. By god, the Picard show didn't focus on Picard as much as this show focuses on Michael. I get she's the main character so she gets the most focus, but by god the Red Angel is her mom and Michael saves the universe by activating her Iron Man Butterfly suit. Season 3 will just be Michael bringing back the Federation all by herself while everyone around her claps. I don't hate the actress, I even feel bad for her. She is not to blame for Michael's character and trying to make her likable. All in all, I can't wait for Chuck to react to Michel's mom.
Science Fiction is a genre where anything can happen. Just make sure what happens is enjoyable for yourself and your audience.

The bad fanfic continues. Every single overused fanfic trope continues to be hauled out in this show.
I swear the producers are so fucking insecure about their show, so like all poor fanfic writers, they make their characters so ott. They do more than Kirk, face bigger threats than Picard, more edgy than Sisko, more psycho than Janeway, it is all bigger, better, more significant, because their show is the mostest importantists, biggest, significant, show ever and all the characters so much "better" than everyone else, and why do we refuse to love them and acknowledge their greatness.
And fuck the lot of them, especially Mickey and Girl!Wesley.
As for the mines, didn't Red Dwarf do that too? Their solution was to put the characters to sleep as they slowly edged through the minefield. STD puts the audience to sleep instead.

Tbh, I hate Tilly more than Michael. A completely obnoxious character who only gets a pass because she has a large rack. Seriously, that is the only defence I ever see of her: ''yeah she's annoying, but what about that jogging scene in her T-shirt hur hur hur.''CrypticMirror wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 4:34 pm The bad fanfic continues. Make no mistake, she may not wear a Troi/Seven of Nine/T'Pol catsuit, but the old ways of casting at least one woman to be there just because she is top heavy have not gone.
Which, imo, makes Michael even more amusing as a concept. They went all out to have an ultra strong female character... then fell into the tired old trope of the fanservice girl. C'mon guys, one or the other.
Re: DIS - Project Deadalus
So my first thought was Chuck missed the backhanded insult also tossed out by the admiral. Specifically that while Pike and the Enterprise were sidelined for being the 'best'. Discovery was in the middle of that war as much as they could use her. So it would seem she is saying they are the expendables in her and Star Fleet's eyes.

"Next you're gonna tell me that a half Romulan could become head of all security"
Hehe, now I really want Chuck to do Picard after he finishes with this season of Discovery... although maybe they're too similar so there's no point in him just repeating the same criticism.

Well, since they'll be ripping off the Andromeda TV series S3, that would be fairly accurate.

I would like to point out that with the coming of ST:PIC, Admiral Satee's fears of a mass Romulan plot against the Federation has proven to be 100% correct. Seems she was not so wrong about persecuting liars like Tarses after all.Mabus wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 8:34 pm "Next you're gonna tell me that a half Romulan could become head of all security"

I wonder if that wasn't intentional.clearspira wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 9:11 pmI would like to point out that with the coming of ST:PIC, Admiral Satee's fears of a mass Romulan plot against the Federation has proven to be 100% correct. Given he put out what might be the opening sequence for Picard reviews on his twitter, I'll put money on that being a reverse-callback.Mabus wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 8:34 pm "Next you're gonna tell me that a half Romulan could become head of all security"

Yeah, the poor liar who was always one step away from busting into tears at all times with a verifiable Romulan grandparent on even a most cursory background search and who barely even qualified to put away the used hyposprays was such a threat to Federation security. Satie might, in theory, have had a decent idea, but she was going after the wrong targets. She was going after soft targets. That is what made her a bully and fool. At best, with the benefit of hindsight, we can say she was a critique of security theatre of the kind that actually leaves you open to the real threat because you are so focused on the soft targets you miss the real ones. .clearspira wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 9:11 pmI would like to point out that with the coming of ST:PIC, Admiral Satee's fears of a mass Romulan plot against the Federation has proven to be 100% correct.
