Another day, another police beating in America

This is for topical issues effecting our fair world... you can quit snickering anytime. Note: It is the desire of the leadership of SFDebris Conglomerate that all posters maintain a civil and polite bearing in this forum, regardless of how you feel about any particular issue. Violators will be turned over to Captain Janeway for experimentation.

I've seen photos of cops doing this with blue tape, which is supposed to represent the "thin blue line".

Those bad apples truly have spoiled the departments.

Well I heard we got some anti police downtown here with some vandalism, which is too bad, but our police chief is apparently speaking supportively about the national movement, so that's good.

Thank goodness for the invention of the cell phone to expose thugs like these.
You have noticed, that someone threw or spewed something at the cops, right? Their reaction is over the top, but it does not come from nowhere.

Yeah, it was water.

Anyone remember when the cops refused to do their jobs and police a Beyonce concert because Beyonce's doing a Black Panther (organization) performance during the superbowl?

This par for the course for cops. A bunch of whiny, fragile mother fuckers with guns.

If that's what police brotherhood is all about, then these departments should be disbanded like the Minneapolis PD has been.

Here's a great book to read. And good news, it's been made free following George Floyd's death!

The End of Policing: https://www.versobooks.com/books/2817-the-end-of-policing

Click the "Ebook" tab, and you can get it for free.

Vitale does amazing groundwork showing the changes to the culture of policing, and showing how and where alternatives to policing have succeeded - reformative justice, legalization (especially drug legalization), and harm reduction. Vitale shows these have actually succeeded in reducing crime, and are also less expensive - from the position of an average citizen, a win/win.

There are alternatives to solve crime besides "more policing". And these protests are showing why they're needed.

It could have been everything, from water over spirits to acid. If tensions are high, you do not act in a way that escalates the situation at hand. Throwing anything a these policemen was dumb and was asking for retaliation.

And you can even see the thing developing in realtime there. Some liquid gets thrown at the cops, one of the armed cops begins to aim as the cop that likely got the liquid spilled on him points at the perpetrator. The cop next to him joins and it snowballs from there. This is exactly the reason, why the protests have to stay peaceful and non-agressive.

But heyho, staying on SFDebris-forums and Twitter, clapping gleefully as some cops beat down yet another unarmed man, while others get what they had coming, while all you do is watch a few videos and pictures and ignoring the context, is your thing... Enjoy the bright future you are creating there.

I think we're in agreement that retaliation is expected, but how they actually handled that was an overreaction. Officers have plenty of other means to retaliate, but it always seems they jump straight to aggressive force even at the most minor things. It doesn't help that the rhetoric Trump has been spreading reflects that overreaction with phrases like "DOMINATE!"
