The great 2020 election thread....

This is for topical issues effecting our fair world... you can quit snickering anytime. Note: It is the desire of the leadership of SFDebris Conglomerate that all posters maintain a civil and polite bearing in this forum, regardless of how you feel about any particular issue. Wow, that's actually encouraging.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but wasn't one of the talking points on the left that Mr. 45 would get us into WWIII before 2020? Yet 2020 is still here, and no WWIII.

No, no it wasn't.

“Gonna start World War 3" is a common bit of hyperbole, usually understood to mean that a given action or person is inflaming international tensions, in a way that makes armed conflict more likely. Which is something that has definitely happened.

Also ignores that, oh yeah, in between "Australia is LITERALLY ON FIRE" and "global plague", Trump actually did try to start WWIII with an invasion of Iran, and took several days to be told that was a fucking stupid plan.

The talking point was we'd be in a war. And yet, we aren't. Some of the students I had talked to personally going into 2017 were convinced the bombs would drop before 2020 and that we'd be living in a radioactive wasteland. As awful as Mr. 45 is, a bumbling, incompetent fool, credit him this little for what it is worth. It's not like in the early aughts. We're not in a war, no more than we have been since then.

"Some of the students I've talked to" is not a statistically significant representation of the Democratic party. Some students believe that mountain dew is an effective spermicide. But you have to invoke what random high school kids so to push your false equivalence between the extreme right and the extreme left.

I see fundamentally no difference between these paramilitary groups who wanna hole up with thousands of guns surrounding them and those who have talked about executing all the CEOs, or who subtly cheer when 9/11 happened because at least it killed those evil capitalists. It all stems from the same root hate.

I think I'm done for a while. I don't have to defend myself to you nor do I have to buy into the labels you're pushing in my direction. You're a radical. I can see that plain as day. And I have more important things to do with my time.

Well at least one of us is willing to walk away from an argument he will never win.
