Contradiction

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

I watch it and find myself wishing for a Wrongpurae. Then again, giving it that would kill it, much like any linear adventure.

Do you have a youtube channel or website I could follow? That sounds absolutely fascinating, I'd like to watch it.

I haven't decided were its going up yet - but I'll message you when we do - I've finished most of the basic effects and We have a near completion script coming off the line and then it's just a matter of recording editing and my artist handing off the last few assets.
I am the one who requested Chuck review Kannazuki No Miko. (under an old alias)

I count it among the most despicable things I have ever done to another human being and I'm sorry.

Things I have requested that are not evil:
* Anna's Quest
* Contradiction
* TECHNOBABYLON

I feel like there should be a term for analysing a work and developing a better story better than the one actually written when trying to unravel the mystery of the plot.
Thread ends here. Cut along dotted line.

I think I've occasionally seen Digibro do it in his SAO reviews also. But he hasn't been around as long as Chuck.

I can't help but mentally compare this to the Ace Attorney games, which are doubly as absurd, although with a few caveats:
1) In (most of) the games, you're not a police investigator but a defense attorney doing their own investigation, and it's made clear you don't have the same resources as the police.
2) Except for a few cases where it's made explicit, the game is quite ambiguous how evidence actually enters the court record.
3) The game is VERY upfront that the justice system in the AA world is quite broken and heavily in favor of the prosecutors, in order to explain away why you can't get an innocent ruling simply based on reasonable doubt

However, I wonder if part of the issue with Contradiction is that, because it's FMV, there's this strange disconnect going on that because we're seeing real people, it's much harder to accept "game logic" in the first place, whereas with Ace Attorney it's rather straightforward to get into the game logic because of how video gamey the interface already is.

That just sounds like the Japanese justice system in general - they have a 99% conviction rate - why? partly because the police can and will do anything and everything to get you to confess to the crime regardless of circumstances and there are incentives in place to make it a better option than fighting the charge. If you do fight the charge you basically need to have the evidence to prove your innocence.

There are a whole mess of other reasons for it too - prosecutors only trying the most obviously guilty - corruption forcing the hands of judges when things get political... it's an absolute mess.
