Angels Take Manhattan (DW)

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

Martha came in with the best resume (she is a medical doctor) and chose to leave when she realized pining for space Jesus is not the key to happiness.

I feel that just makes her the smartest companion and the one most deserving of some kind of happy ending (Martha is actually my 2nd favorite right after Rory; I am a-typical).

Donna is the best companion of NuWho. She was a great counterpoint to all the lovestruck young girls.

Shame she only got like 6 episodes in her season, the rest were filled with cameos from other companions eating screentime, or her being completely sidelined in the library two-parter to make room for River.

Oh, I'm not saying that Martha shouldn't have gotten a happy ending (she was my favorite of the Tennant companions too), but rather that I don't get why no one else ever does. The original series had companions decide to leave all the time without always having to get exiled by some time-space weirdness or whatever.

The perfect ending for Amy and Rory would been for them to just decide they needed to get on with married life. Maybe they adopt a kid or something, and then decide that as parents, they can't just keep going around risking their lives all the time. You know? This sort of thing would eventually happen in real life (well, allowing for some variant of "real life" that had time-travelling aliens in blue boxes that are bigger on the inside, of course :P). This would also leave the door open for the occasional cameo if the actors decided to show up one more time for fun a few years down the road.

That would have been an interesting twist - have them leave and adopt the kid and then 18 seasons of so later have them come back now the kid is all grown up and can look after them self so Amy and Rory can go off in the Tardis for a second honeymoon :P

Absolutely. When we first met Donna, I couldn't stand her but by the end of Fires of Pompeii I had definitely had a change of heart about her.

Agreed and I'll add that's what is so frustrating about her fate; all that personal grown wiped clean for the sake of drama. Presumabley that's a factor in why she came back in Ten's final story, to give her a happy ending happily married and winning the lottery as a halfhearted way of RTD trying to make up for screwing her over.

Because all a woman needs to be happy is not personal growth and empowerment, but money and a man. :(
That was worse than the original brainwipe. I wonder if it was Moffat that wrote that, it is his sort of version of enlightenment.

I agree with you guys. That mindwipe was definitely a crime against the character and maybe even the audience.

Donna should have died. What about, "Her mind will burn" was left open for interpretation? Instead of death she gives off a Mass Sleep spell and then enters into a regenerative coma. And then she wins the lotto.

Fuck. I hated "The End of Time".
