I'm not gonna lie. I thought the 8th one had a lot of class.

Compared to episode 2 I'd say it's a little more bold and does a better job of being Empire Strikes Back. Though I like Episode 2 for its linear plot.

While a lot of the sequels will be moved to the expansion universe to fanon fuel, I do see the massive financial prompts and economic trash-recycling of this ordeal, its bad for popularity and rival companies to socially-copyright.

For me nothing really matters outside of the actual episode films 1-9. Everything else is just a side story.

Personally I rather enjoyed The Sequel Trilogy, great characters, great action, interesting story about nature verses nurture with a heart felt message throughout about you forging your own destiny, so it would be a shame that it would all be erased... if it were true.

Yeah I don't buy it for one minute, these movies made billions of pounds world wide, what logical sense would it be to erase them just to appease the relatively small crowd of unappeasable man-children who threw the biggest temper tantrum over the fact that their toys weren't being played with in the "correct" way.

I'll say it before, and I'll say it again, I've heard these arguments before and every time they've been proven wrong. This sort of thing always happens. A series that is hugely popular is given new management, the new people in charge decide to try and streamline the series they've been given to make it easier for casual viewers. Most of the time they go with a sort of soft reboot, keeping the continuity intact but having it were several years have passed to explain away any and all changes. Other companies go for a more of a full on reboot or an AU that acknowledge it's an AU.

And I get why that happens. Star Trek, DC, Star Wars and Ultimate Marvel were all tainted by a number of bad stories that hurt the brand and fans just wanted a fresh start because returning to the universe we loved just wasn't fun anymore. And make no mistake, all three reboots were well received on release. However, as is often the case, there was no real plan moving forward and, at least in the case of the New 52, Ultimate Marvel and Star Wars the reboot failed to learn from the mistakes of the past universe and the series took a hit.

Star Trek Into Darkness was well received but was ultimately forgettable and fans began to find more and more issues with the Reboot so when the Criminally Underrated Star Trek Beyond came around fans were no longer interested in the Kelvin timeline and wanted to return to the Prime Universe. The New 52's fall from grace is so well known that I don't even need to go over why it failed, you likely already know most of the details. The Ultimate Marvel Universe grew so dark that Marvel basically decided to kill it off for good and only transferred a couple of characters into the main Marvel Universe because fans had grown tired of TUMU.

And we can see the same thing happening with Star Wars. Yes, Rise of Skywalker made back it's budget and then some with a $1.074 billion return. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 also made back it's budget with interest with a $709 million return. It also had a mixed reception with critics and fans and soon after it's release Sony made a deal with Marvel to bring Spider-Man into the MCU despite Sony having plans for the Web Swinger.

Rise of Skywalker made money but the reception by fans on ALL Sides was pretty much the same, half the fanbase didn't like it and the other half, while not hating it, didn't enjoy it all that much. Which is what everyone pretty much said about TAMS2 RIGHT before his reboot.

This happens. All the time. A series is doing well in financially but the reception by fans isn't doing as well as they would like so the company starts looking at another reboot. And the main reason for this is simple, this is a business, you HAVE to keep the machine going. The reception for TDST and the Disney Era as a whole has been mixed with each installment in TDST getting worse and worse reception as time goes on.

When making a story in any medium there are always three sides to consider. The Creators, the Executive Producers and the Fans. At the time of this writing, Kathleen Kennedy will be stepping down as head of Lucas Films come 2021, Bob Iger has stepped down and the films will be going into a hiatus for, at the very least, 5 years if not longer.

The people who are rumored to take over are all open fans of Star Wars Legends and the people who are remaining to work on Star Wars are also fans of Legends if not people who worked on Legends itself. The two biggest contenders AGAINST the Legends runs, Kennedy and Iger, are leaving the series. The fanbase is split down the middle with many feeling that ROS was a terrible ending to the series that weakens the rest of the Saga meaningless.

Plus, the 50th Anniversary of Star Wars is coming up in 2027. So, I ask you, viewing this from an Executive Producer, a Creator and a fan, what would be the best way to get everyone exited for a Star Wars Future Film? I mean no disrespect, I only mean to explain why I think a reboot is coming.

I’d like to apologies and clarify on what it posted, I’ve always said I’m fine with people not liking the same pieces of media I like, we all have are own opinions and viewpoints, and if a piece of media didn’t work for someone that’s fine.

I really wasn’t talking about anyone here in this forum, I was referring to the YouTube click-bait channels and the group known as the fandom menace that make up these rumours because they make money off of spreading misinformation, taking out of context quotes to prove a point, treating those rumours as fact, and just being terrible people in-general.

I don’t know what the future holds for Star Wars, and neither do they, until there is an official announcement, I don’t give these rumours the time of day, I also don’t want to be angry or miserable at something that really wasn’t as bad as it is being made out to be by those people because in years to come people will move on to the next thing to hate.

Much like how people are now re-evaluating The Prequel Trilogy, I’m certain we’re going to be re-evaluating The Sequel Trilogy in the future once it’s no longer popular or profitable to hate them for those people, or at least until the next Star Wars film comes around.

Bingo. And that's because over time the kids that grew up on the prequels became more vocal over the internet once they became adults. It's a sharp contrast to 2012 when Disney began placating to OT fans by emphasizing their trilogy over the prequels as a way of "winning back" fandom that Lucas had alienated. Once those kids that grew up on ST become adults and share adoration for the sequels, that's when Disney begins building projects based on that era. In the meantime, I think Disney will just put any sequel related thing in the backburner just like they did with the prequels before the time is right to cash in on the nostalgia.

Sure, some of you are going to think it's highly unlikely that the fan base will embrace the ST more down the line, but the same thing was said of the prequels 15 years ago. It's inevitable. YouTubers with dumb fucking names like "Doomcock" can't change that.

Personally I say keep them. The main problem with the sequels is that what's happening off screen and gets a one sentence summary in an art book is way more interesting than the story we got; just leave the framework and tell those stories. It worked great for The Clone Wars.

The force sensitive kid who can casually do telekinesis better than Luke as a full Jedi, what's his tale? Who the hell is Holdo and why does Leia trust her even though she wasn't in any previous entry? Why does destroying the never-before-mentioned Hosnian system destroy all galactic government so thoroughly that nobody remains to fight off a tinpot outer rim NGO? Literally any story starring Maz the pirate queen, but specifically where did she get Luke's lightsaber? Who the hell is Snoke, and why does everything he says or does contradict the ghost of an explanation we did get in episode 9? What are the Attendants and why are they helping the First Order (and are they still working with the Grysk as well?)?

The side stories in Rogue One and Solo were better than any other film in this franchise since 1983, we need more like them.
