It's been awhile but I do remember people saying the same thing when Obama got re-elected too. Obviously far far less celebrities said it due to most celebrities lean left, not right.Antiboyscout wrote: ↑Mon Jun 08, 2020 3:48 pmI have seen thousands of people say they'll move to Canada cuz Trump. I said the same thing in '03. Mainly just a matter of draft dodging though.
..What mirror universe?
Re: 45 tries to sneak in homophobic laws
I was when the US went to war on Iraq and then there was some discussion of the draft.
Obviously not serious, but the general idea was that since I was already in there would be a wide spread promotion to account for all the draftees.
I joined September 10, 2002. Happened to be my parents wedding anniversary. Had recruiters calling me left and right after 9/11 when I was a senior.

Basically 9/11 happened and I don't know if you remember at the time, but America was pissed. Afghanistan was just the beginning. The US was aiming to eradicate all terrorism at least in the Middle East.
But it was still when they were actively hunting down seniors in high school to fill their quota for the year. Easier to convince a 17 or 18 year old than let's say a 20 or older.
For me I have the Army, Marines and Air Force calling my parents phone. Eventually I told off the Army Recruiter, that if there was a branch I would join it would be the Navy. 10 minutes later the Navy calls and then convinces me to send a recruiter.
Two recruiters come later in the week. And we'll the rest is history.

Well like we didn't have carpet recruiting like that. Of course I was only 16 on 9/11.McAvoy wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 1:40 amBasically 9/11 happened and I don't know if you remember at the time, but America was pissed. Those do not have a high chance of succeeding. Anyone who is sympathetic enough to donate are either in the same boat, can only donate pennies, or already donated those pennies to someone else.Darth Wedgius wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 5:02 amTry a gofundme?ProfessorDetective wrote: ↑Mon Jun 08, 2020 8:30 pmHow many of them are too broke to move? That is a shame. Seriously. A way for people fundamentally unhappy with the US to leave it would be nice all around. Though there do seem to be alternatives in Mexico that are extended driving distance, if you have a car?ProfessorDetective wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 5:41 amThose do not have a high chance of succeeding. Re: 45 tries to sneak in homophobic laws
I ask this question because I don't know and want to learn not because of any agenda: what in general do children of same sex parents think and what are their lives like? Are they on board with having two dads or does it lead to years of bullying? Because if the latter is true then one can make a child protection argument. After all, surely the kids are the ones we should be thinking of in all of this, not giving out the right to adopt just for the sake of having the right to adopt.
