You don't suspend the rights of people because of other people being bigots.

I fail to see how bouncing around the foster system is better than that.clearspira wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 8:09 am I ask this question because I don't know and want to learn not because of any agenda: what in general do children of same sex parents think and what are their lives like? Are they on board with having two dads or does it lead to years of bullying? Because if the latter is true then one can make a child protection argument. After all, surely the kids are the ones we should be thinking of in all of this, not giving out the right to adopt just for the sake of having the right to adopt.

Re: 45 tries to sneak in homophobic laws
I am merely trying to get a balanced discussion going. This thread so far is ''TRUMP IS DA EVULZ'' whereas I am more interested in what the actual kids think. All too often the focus is not on what they want when as far as I am concerned that is the number 1 question.Draco Dracul wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 4:28 pmI fail to see how bouncing around the foster system is better than that.clearspira wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 8:09 am I ask this question because I don't know and want to learn not because of any agenda: what in general do children of same sex parents think and what are their lives like? But yeah, I agree, the foster system is piss. The suicide rate among orphans once they reach adulthood is appalling.
I also wanted to take the opportunity to point out that this is why I have no problem with abortion. I wonder how many of those idiots who spit at women entering the clinic would even momentarily consider adopting that child they are trying to force her to keep. None would be my bet.

Clearspira, if you really want to learn how children of same-sex parents feel about it, you could read My Two Moms by Zach Wahls. It might even be available in audiobook form from your local library. If you want to buy instead of rent, here are the links:

The short version is, they think their parents ARE normal and they don't understand why other people are raising a fuss and turning the rights of their parents to raise them into a political issue.

Cuz as we all know, progressives and queer sex activists would never publish bullsh*t data. Just ask John Money...Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 9:09 pm Clearspira, if you really want to learn how children of same-sex parents feel about it, you could read My Two Moms by Zach Wahls. I was 17 when 9/11 happened and I was a senior in high school.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 2:14 amWell like we didn't have carpet recruiting like that. Of course I was only 16 on 9/11.McAvoy wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 1:40 amBasically 9/11 happened and I don't know if you remember at the time, but America was pissed. Afghanistan was just the beginning. The US was aiming to eradicate all terrorism at least in the Middle East.
But it was still when they were actively hunting down seniors in high school to fill their quota for the year. Easier to convince a 17 or 18 year old than let's say a 20 or older.
For me I have the Army, Marines and Air Force calling my parents phone. Eventually I told off the Army Recruiter, that if there was a branch I would join it would be the Navy. 10 minutes later the Navy calls and then convinces me to send a recruiter.
Two recruiters come later in the week. And we'll the rest is history.
The only thing I can think of is in NJ or least my county I lived in, may have given out my information to the recruiters.
Or maybe I did something I have totally forgotten that brought me to their attention.
I got nothing to say here.

Actually my senior year I remember a Navy guy coming to my Physics class, but that's really about it.McAvoy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 12:48 amI was 17 when 9/11 happened and I was a senior in high school.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 2:14 amWell like we didn't have carpet recruiting like that. I remember playing CSS with someone who said they ran 2 miles in 10 minutes or something while in basic and their inbox got blown up.

The guy who recruited me came into my Physics class. He was still trying to convince me to be a nuke (nuclear reactor mechanic) on a sub. Told him I wanted to be on the ocean, not below it.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 12:53 amActually my senior year I remember a Navy guy coming to my Physics class, but that's really about it.McAvoy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 12:48 amI was 17 when 9/11 happened and I was a senior in high school.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 2:14 amWell like we didn't have carpet recruiting like that. Hindsight 20/20. I should have sucked it up and took the rating. You can make alot of money out of the Navy to work on nuclear reactors....

Someone in my Physics class did actually end up being a Homer Simpson. We used to get drunk in class quite a bit.McAvoy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 1:00 amThe guy who recruited me came into my Physics class. 4 studies have found that children were worse off, all shared the same methodological flaw (inclusion of households where the parents divorced, and one of the parents subsequently ended up with a same-sex partner)
