I think a symbol, of anything, only means what you want it to mean. Originally the swastika was about Tibetan spirituality, not white supremacy, and the cross symbolized Roman authority and brutality.

So to me a lot of these Confederate Memorials are not about glorifying slavery, or even the Confederacy itself, they are an acknowledgement that these men were human beings just like anyone else. Even if you want to argue; it does not change the fact that they fought and died for a corrupt cause, that just adds to the tragedy of it. They were good people fighting and dying for a cause that was not theirs since most of the confederate soldiers were slave owners or even worked for one.

If you want to learn a lot about sharks, or understand their true phylogenic relationship and how actually a tuna is more closely related to you than a shark, you go to biology textbook. If you want to know what a car is because you're Amish, you read a dictionary. If you want to know how cars work, what distinguishes a car from a dune buggy, etc., you go ask a mechanic.

That's a very popular myth and a common misconception. Most of the racists who are easy to spot are in the trailer park. There are racists in the cities and racists in the country. Beyond that I am BEGGING you to read a Book about something societal. Audible.com has a pretty good series of audiobooks called the Great Courses were you can hear from college level lecturers.
Better yet, college texbooks have practically no resale value so you can get them really cheap secondhand.

Read a Philosophy 101 book. Read any book about philosophy. Read The Color of Wealth. Read a book about racism. Or sociology. Or anthropology. Or economics. Just get some new ideas into that head of yours instead of constantly reheating the old ones.

yeah, they exist in positions of power but the idea I was contesting only works if ALL racists are in positions of power.
