People say that but her nominal policy positions and senate record aren’t actually the issue.
The issues go back to her time as DA/AG and the core beliefs she must have had in order to conduct herself as she did in those positions.
We can dig into that if people are actually interested, but in short she has never recanted on the issues in a way that acknowledged the harm caused or the underlying mentality that will continue to influence her political life.
None of that changes my vote. But I’m not willing to pretend she’s a progressive just because she’s not been forced to reckon with issues where she decidedly is not yet.

Could be worse.
A lot of the far-lefties are gonna be unhappy because her time as AG makes her one of 'them', but her voting record in the Senate is apparently 93% in agreement with Bernie Sanders. So if the campeign can get over that hump, this might work out pretty well.
And I'm looking foreward to seeing her bodyslam Pence in the debate.
The 93% thing:

Those numbers are not that meaningful because they count procedural votes which are meaningless and heavily distort the numbers.
When judging policy it is best to look at tight little issues to see where they split.
That being said, she is excellent at debate, asking questions, and will destroy Pence.

The Democrats sincerely believe that identity politics translate to votes. Clinton's "vote for me because I have a vagina campaign" failed and I can't see this swinging anyone. Why? Let's be honest: this election will not be fought on policies, it will be fought on the basis of "Trump vs Not Trump".
Is your assessment of her bounded by her gender? You're the only one that's brought up that she's a woman or a poc.
Which is of course bullshit. If I had a dollar for every time the MSM has spoken about her skin colour, heritage or genitals in the last few weeks I would be a millionaire.

What a Joe Biden pick. Safe, middle of the road, nothing surprising in her politics, "tough on crime" candidate. There's really not much to criticize here mostly because she's got one of those very "VP" bios - politically connected, no major controversies within her party, might galvanize some people to vote. Biden, Gore, Pence, these were all picks along those lines - some middle of the road politician (you can say Pence is controversial, but he's controversial among people who weren't voting Trump in any case).
Car mechanic Biden, he's like clockwork.
P.S. ClearSpira trying to make this about identity politics is just so him. In ClearSpira's world, there's deserving straight white men and then identity politics picks.

What Grice said, but look;
The dangers of identity politics isn't some intuitive chaos theory model. It's like saying "I need someone for the job, but between New York and California I want to choose from New York."
Your inability to find a preferable subject for the job in that case is more your inability to cater within New York and less to do about progressive tunnel vision.

Ah. So I should restrict myself solely to this board when discussing a topic with international relevance. Makes sense.

Ah. So I am making up the fact that CNN runs hourly pieces about how she is the first black woman VP, and how she could be the next female president in 2024, and how her Indian heritage may help her, and how she may be ''the unifier'' in an America currently divided by race, and how she might be the continuation of Obama's legacy.
I'm making that up am I? That the MSM loves the fact that she is black and female above all else?
OK. I'll beat your drum. Although I think we better give a few cents to a guide dogs for the blind charity as we're both be needing them going forth.
