Because I am just so tired of Matt Reeves fanboys. They are just so insufferable on the internet that I must discredit the movie on principle.

Looks OK to me. It's the early days of Batman (comic book type not Nolan type) so he hasn't nailed down his look quite yet. Using a supped up car as opposed to some custom made vehicle or tank.

As far as the eye shadow. Batman in the movies always had eye shadow with the cowl but was never shown when his cowl was off.

Not sure about his Bruce Wayne look though. But I guess they are going away from the clean cut business look of previous movies.

Batman is the new American Bond. Pump out a few movies with an actor, change the actor with new movies rinse and repeat. 3 Batmans in a decade.

Spider Man comes a close second but the Tobey Spiderman was twelve years ago.

I don't mean character wise, but as a franchise. Though there are theories that James Bond 007 is a code name and not the real name. I did hear there were attempts to bring back Sean Connery as a cameo a few times as a old spy.

It's also why I say that The Lego Batman Movie is the best Batman film, not just because it's absolutely fun, but it challenges the Dark and Gritty versions of Batman, that the crime fighting and violence didn't fill the void that his parents left, and that what he really needs is a family, Linkara even pointed this out in his reviews of the comic adaptations of the four Batman films, and that this was an over arcing theme of that quadrilogy, plus having the Joker's motivation throughout The Lego Batman Movie being getting senpai Batman to notice him is hilarious.

Talking about this as well, Overly Sarcastic's Trope Talk on Realism had a great description of was Batman should be like:

Could you see this Batman comforting a crying child? if yes, congratulations, this is a certified Batman, if not, I'm afraid you instead have the Punisher in a silly hat.

But if I was to say who my overall favourite Batman is, it would be a tie between Kevin Conroy from Batman The Animated Series, and Diedrich Bader from Batman Brave and the Bold.

Also Rino Romano (who voiced Lieutenant Alex Munro) from The Batman is an underrated Batman, as well as the series itself, I also thing what Telltale did with their Batman games was really interesting.

I can never say Lego Batman is the best Batman film in a world where Mask of the Phantasm exists.

And given that the Reeves film has had just one trailer (with only 25-30% of film actually shot) I'm not going to assume that his gadgets will play no part in the movie.
