We haven't talked about Corona much recently, so let's begin again and applaud CoViD for this milestone:

Nevada man becomes first in the US to catch COVID-19 twice

Nevada resident is thought to be the first person in the United States to be infected twice by the coronavirus, according to findings released this week.

The 25-year-old man, of Reno, experienced a sore throat, cough, headache, nausea and diarrhea — and first tested positive for the COVID-19 on April 18, according to a study published to the website SSRN Thursday, which has yet to be peer-reviewed.

His symptoms had resolved by April 27, and he tested negative for the virus twice in May, the study says.

Then on May 31, he sought treatment again for the same symptoms, in addition to a fever and dizziness, according to the study.

[...]
The dude's not the first one world-wide, but there are gladly low amounts of people who got infected twice. So far.

Meanwhile in Germany...

A protest against the anti-CoViD-meassures was scheduled and got canceled by the city of Berlin with the arguement that the protesters will not follow the restrictions set (carrying masks, leaving room between each other and so on) and so there's no point in allowing it in the first place. The protest got reinstated by a court and then got consequentially dissolved by Police a couple of minutes after it started, for all the obvious reasons.

On the sidelines of the protests, a bunch of "Reichsbürger", a group of people who somehow believe that the modern German State is an imposter-state (for lack of a better word) and not the successor to the original German Reich as established in the wake of World War I or even before, depending on which nutjob you ask and as such, has no jurisdiction over them. Yes, they even have their own made-up passports, try to avoid taxes, regularly get into conflict with police and so on and on. Usually there's a lot of overlap with the far right, so things got all the more wierd as this group of wackos tried a storm into the Reichstag (Germany's parliament) in order to occupy it, waving their various iterations of the german flags, got repelled by 3...yes three police officers and had someone amongst their ranks, who waved the US flag and, particularly absurd, the turkish flag.

Ah, German Style Sovereign Citizens. Good to know stupidity exists everywhere, and not localized to specific countries.

New cases in the U.S. are trending down, too. Not for every state; California's more iffy, and some states that weren't hit as hard are trending sideways.

As the weather gets colder, that might reverse. Didn't think I was actually going to get optimistic, did you?

Oh, apparently Our Glorious Leader forced the CDC to ramp down testing for asymptomatic people. While Dr Fauci was under for surgery. Just something that totally happens in a functional democracy with responsible leaders and checks and balances. .-.

UK scientists are increasingly convinced that post-Covid immunity and thus the much hoped for herd immunity lasts for a few months at best. This virus is a nastily adaptive bastard apparently. And when you think about it, it makes a lot of sense. This is after all the third time we have been hit with this virus: first there was SARS, then MERS and now Covid-19.

Which then of course leads onto two logical questions: 1) Why in hell did no one prepare for this virus after the first two times and 2) what are we going to do when we get hit by Covid-25? That is the pattern after all. It keeps on coming back and is worse each time.

The fear is of a second wave once we hit flu season. You catch flu, it lowers the immune system of even healthy and young people, and then you catch Covid - a disease that you probably could have fought off if you hadn't caught flu and vice versa. The common cold is also capable of this to a lesser degree.

Pity we live in a society whereby twats on the internet have spread so many rumours about flu vaccines innit?

SARS, MERS and CoViD-19 are all Corona-viruses, but they are are distinct viruses. In other, more figurative terms, one is a hawk, one is an eagle and one is a falcon. They may all be birds, birds of prey even (I love this word btw), but they are not directly related.

As for the flu. I've been convinced the practises in the eastern bloc were perfectly right. If there's a vaccine, it's mandatory. No ifs, no buts, no arguements. It saves lives, it protects the economy and all that for a minimally invasive procedure that takes a few seconds and can be made almost 100% secure by simply dipping the needle in vodka.
We've killed smallpox that way, almost eliminated polio and measles, as well as a number of other rather unpleasent diseases, but somehow parts of the 21st century western world is allowed to ruin these successes and bring us back into the middle-ages with a new plague killing half the world's population every other week...

I mean we, in the USA, did prepare for this, but that was done by a black man who might have a bigger penis than Our Glorious Leader so he dismantled the pandemic task force as soon as possible.
