Yeah, the design isn't bad and I think if they had stuck with one colour they would have been fine, but Dalek/Power Rangers was not something I think anyone was ready for.

The Dalek design is a classic and I do like that when the new series came to redesigning them they didn't change much, it was basically making the chassie look like real metal and giving the eye light in the eyestalk the ability to dilate, which gave the Daleks more options to emote, also I really like the Dalek design from the New Years Special "Resolution", that one was basically the Tony Stark of Daleks, I love that cobbled together look for it.

I also really like all the Cybermen designs, especially the first design that was more human than machine that poor Bill Potts became, and I do like that the changes are addressed in-universe, specifically with that two part finally of Season 10 that had poor Bill Potts becoming a Cyberman after having a hole shot through her chest and spending years waiting for the Doctor to come save her(NO I'M NOT SAITLY THAT HAPPENED, WHY WOULD YOU THINK THAT), and it makes sense that a race that would "upgrade" themselves would continue to do so, becoming less and less human with each design.

But then Klingons have gone through perhaps the most transformations or reimaginings or updates in makeup in sci fi history.

Sorry dude. I Don't watch Doctor Who. So I am not aware of whoever this is.

The show is hard to watch for me. I mean big bad guys look like a nice kick could tip them over. Not really threatened with a plunger and a mixer either haha.
I got nothing to say here.

1) The Daleks WERE that fragile at first. Then they got into into a few wars (one of them across TIME ITSELF) and did some R&D. Now thay can fly and have a bullet-disintergrating forcefield ALONGSIDE bulletproof armor. The whisk is a death ray that can down a plane and the plunger can crush your skull. The pepper shakers ain't push-overs, is what I'm saying,

2) Those are Cybermen. They're the Borg LONG before the Borg. That last one has only the victim's BRAIN inside, for extra yikes points.

The only real kitchy artifact left is their weakness to gold. At first it was that their vent systems (they were full people in suits at first) couldn't filter out gold DUST and thus it sufficated them... Now they're like werewolves with silver, gold just hurts them no matter what... Don't ask me...

I mean yes they did, but I understand the objection, because the original Dalek used a plunger, and as much as they've told us what the new capacities and stuff are, it's, well... it's a plunger. It's a black rubber toilet plunger.

Stuff like this was very easy to disguise when you had broadcast television at laughably small resolutions (the shoddiest, worst, ugliest youtube video you ever saw is probably a good description) but as televisions improved, the plunger became more obviously, well, a toilet plunger. It still is a toilet plunger. Either you can suspend your disbelief or you can't, but I do understand why it's a hard pill to swallow. It's always given the Daleks an element of levity I'm not sure the creators wanted.

It's just one of those thing I just can suspend my disbelief for when I watch it. I did try to watch it when the newest version (whatever Doctor that was) 15-20 years ago. Was just hard.

I don't know maybe they could have updated the Dalek design a bit to look more intimidating but I guess their design is a in series joke or a British humor thing I don't know about.

Something I love about the reintroduction to the Dalek in the Season 1 episode "Dalek" is that without making major adulterations to the design of them, still made them threatening and showed the new audiences why that is with added features like the toilet plunger being able to crush a skull and even interact with consoles, or the bullet-disintergrating forcefield, and even bringing back the hover thrusters to show that even a small flight of stairs can't stop this death machine.

You missed one...

Two things strike me about that design:

1) ''You sci-fi fans like Iron Man right?''

2) Modern redesigns seem to LOVE putting needless flourishes into their designs. Bits sticking out, strange ramps on the legs, lights where lights were not there before. ''Modern'' seems to too often mean ''cluttered''.

Its a design that you would expect to come out of something called ''The Time War.'' If you take their backstory into account, the Daleks were originally designed as travel machines for mutants on Skaro and not weapons of war in and of themselves - which is arguably backed up by how they preferred to fight back in the classic series. Very rarely did they START OUT by coming at you 1 on 1; they would flatten you from orbit, send in mind-controlled humans, wipe you from history, become the ''man behind the man'', or use some kind of WMD. The Daleks were a lot more tactically minded than people remember. It is only post Time War that you see great armies of Daleks coming at you.

I seem to remember though that a lot of what people credit the Bronze Dalek for was actually introduced during the Imperial and Renegade Dalek wars under Sylvester McCoys Doctor. They could definitely now climb stairs.
