Well, at least now that Discovery is in the future of the future they can change things in a natural way without the arrogant jerk move of "we are ruining Star Trek because we can!".
So now, say if Discovery goes to Vulcan and "suddenly" the Vulcans are three feet tall, blue skinned say "meep meep", they can't say the dumb "oh Vulcans have always been like this because we are ruining everything about Star Trek." At least now they can say "oh well this happened over 1000 years or whatever" and it "has no effect on the Real Star Trek".
I wonder....will the show be SO COOL as to have the Discovery to be super duper outdated? So like everyone in the future has better tech then dumb Discovery? I think that would be great!

Calypso had Craft react like the Discovery was the most advanced thing he'd ever seen.

I think that would be a valid approach. After all, space travelers have been around for billions of years and there have been technological ups and downs when it came to who was the most technologically advanced in the galaxy. The Iconians and the Tkon Empire were more super advanced in their prime thousands of years ago than was Starfleet in the 24th century. Promellians were supposedly as advanced as 23rd century Starfleet back in the 14th century.

Like a day before this trailer came out I just started seeing that guy playing Manchester Black in Supergirl.

Indeed, it's not good to have this sort of mindset in general, to think that there is no point to something just because it won't be around forever, to say that time itself is like a predator that stalked us all our lives, I personally believe than time is a companion who goes with us on the journey, and reminds us to cherish every moment, because they'll never come again.Makeshift Python wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 11:37 pmThat's like saying building a house isn't worth building because in hundreds of years it'll be destroyed by a hurricane. Maybe pointless is too strong, but I can't think of a better word, but it definitely puts a damper on things.
What we leave behind is not as important as how we lived. After all, we're only mortal.

Yeah except it's the descendents of Picard and stuff. Everything he and others has done has been for a prosperous future generation. What they have left is largely thanks to them.

Maybe "The Burn" originated from someone trying to do a gender reveal party.

Can't wait for all the right-wing memes about how "the Burn/Bern" caused a "hard left turn" and everything needs to be fixed by going back to our foundational principles from hundreds of years ago.
