It usually has more to do with hypocrisy from politicians or celebrities who preach against them as they see it.

MAP's operate openly on twitter. You're more likely to be banned for being a Trump supporter than a pedophile. That and the Cuties debacle show the pedo support movement is definitely real, and intellectually, it has the same root and arguments as the LGBT+. Makes sense, a lot of the founders of the LGBT+ movement were or defended pedophilia.
