Deep Space Nine is really the only series I can enjoy by marathon watching it.
TNG and TOS are those types of series that I can certainly enjoy watching isolated episodes here and there. Afterall, they are very episodic in nature. Voyager I can do the same though issues with the series which I won't go into, keeps popping up in my head when I watch it.
Enterprise could have been a type of series that blends DS9 and TNG together but it does have its own issues as well. Especially the first two seasons.
Discovery is too new for me to gauge how I would like it if I marathoned it. Besides even with two seasons it's only the equivalent of one old Trek season. Same goes for Picard.
But that is just me. For all the faults that many of us point out with Voyager for example, some reason Voyager seems to have a bigger following than you would think. You would think the general population thinks differently than the big time fans that we are.
The New Scientist proclaims "Star Trek Renassiance"

I got nothing to say here.
Re: The New Scientist proclaims "Star Trek Renassiance"
Indeed, Renegade Cut even made the video Star Trek Voyager Is Good Actually, and I do like the points he made about the characters, and I've been listening to The Delta Flyers Podcast, and it's really interesting to hear Garrett Wang and Robert Duncan McNeill discuss the series they were in, talk about all the backstage chicanery, and overall behind the scenes information.McAvoy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 2:12 am Deep Space Nine is really the only series I can enjoy by marathon watching it.

And while I do agree with many of the criticisms with Voyager that Chuck himself has talked about, I will still have a soft spot for Voyager as it was the first Star Trek series I watch as it was coming out on Sky One with my family, and was one of the reasons I got into Star Trek to begin with.
I also see your point with Discovery and Picard, and honestly is one of the reasons why I try to play devil's advocate and am not overly critical, as things can change and improve basic on current feedback, if the first season of The Next Generation was coming out today as is, I'd be doing the same.

Ah, yes. New Scientist. The number 1 authority on Star Trek - eye roll emoji -
Frankly, if this is the renassiance, I would hate to see what the dark ages look like. Because that would be some bleak shit indeed.

Re: The New Scientist proclaims "Star Trek Renassiance"
Depends on whether you count movies and the Animated series. Here are a few candidate stretches:
-> 1969-1973 (After TOS, 4 yrs)
-> 1975-1979 (After TAS, 4 yrs)
-> 1969-1979 (After TOS, no TAS, 10 yrs)
-> 1969-1987 (After TOS, no TAS or movies, 18 yrs)
-> 2005-2009 (After Enterprise, 4 yrs)
-> 2005-2017 (After Enterprise, no movies, 12 yrs)

Admittedly, for me (and probably other late arrivals), they dark ages aren't all that bad given the show was so often in reruns, especially after the advent of cable.

Probably NOT three successful series ongoing at the same time?clearspira wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 3:00 pmFrankly, if this is the renassiance, I would hate to see what the dark ages look like.

Indeed, and even when there wasn't a series or film, there were books, games and conventions to tie us over, Star Trek is never gone or in a dark age, it's just resting.TGLS wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 3:56 pmDepends on whether you count movies and the Animated series. I'd say that this renaissance is very much like when The Next Generation as rapping up, Deep Space Nine was going, Voyager was starting, and Generation came out.

Re: The New Scientist proclaims "Star Trek Renassiance"
Have you any reason other than a deep loathing of the programs and a weird desire for wanting the crowd to follow your tastes to believe they aren't successful? I'm noting that I've posted a bunch of links talking about their views, success, and demand with the only way to dismiss them being to assume they're part of a conspiracy.
And there's no reason to assume there is one except to make your original position correct.
Which is not the Starfleet way.

FYI - for those unconvinced:
Screen Rant says "Star Trek: Discovery Became The Most Popular Streaming Show In The World"
https://screenrant.com/star-trek-discovery-ratings-most-popular-streaming-show/
Star Trek: Discovery season 2 was a hit, becoming the most popular digital original TV show in the world during April. Although Star Trek is one of the most powerful science-fiction brands of all time, the franchise has struggled over the last couple of decades. Star Trek: Enterprise ended in 2005, and it was over ten years before CBS produced another TV series. Over on the big screen, the franchise's initially-successful reboot stumbled - and Star Trek 4 was even canceled.
Vocal Media says Star Trek is enormous success

In even more positive news, the Discovery premiere drew in 9.6 million viewers. CBS Research projects that this figure will increase to more than 15 million viewers with seven-day delayed viewing, alongside an additional 5-10% with live +35 day viewing. Those viewing figures are excellent. If they translate to subscriptions, then Discovery will go down as a massive win for CBS.
Trekmovie says that Discovery has Record-Breaking Weekend due to Season 2 Premiere of Discovery

Discovery helps set a new record for All Access
Today CBS All Access announced that the second season premiere of Star Trek: Discovery and the AFC championship game drove a record-breaking weekend for the streaming service. According to CBS, All Access added more subscribers in a single weekend than ever before, eclipsing the previous record set during the 2017 series premiere of Star Trek: Discovery by 72%. In addition, the weekend also set a new record for unique viewers.

Seriously, is there ANY evidence whatsoever that would convince the detractors here that DISCOVERY is an enormous hit?

It's going on the network this fall, we'll have actual ratings.
