I'm willing to put $20 down that the Burn is going to be a parallel for global warming. "We kept using inefficient warp drives and it destroyed subspace!"

Honestly, I imagine that's where they're going with this. The Discovery's spore drive as a replacement for Warp Drive.

That would be really interesting.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 8:50 amHonestly, I imagine that's where they're going with this. The Discovery's spore drive as a replacement for Warp Drive.
I honestly do hope that they still used the Spore Drive going forward and don't "break" it, while I agree with Chuck and many other that the actual science is insane, I still like it because we see the applications and repercussions of a biological propulsions/teleportation system.

Considering that the episode "Force of Nature" brought this up with this real life parallel, I wouldn't be surprised.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 5:18 amI'm willing to put $20 down that the Burn is going to be a parallel for global warming. They can just say it was an possible future like All good things.Zatman wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 1:55 pm I guess my problem with a future show that shows the Federation destroyed is it suddenly makes everything we've seen and done, and are doing (Picard) seem almost pointless. Maybe pointless is too strong, but I can't think of a better word, but it definitely puts a damper on things.
