B5 - Voices of Authority

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

See, I don't say they "looked like" angels.
They are and always have been the angels of myth.

Julie Musante is one of my all time favorite villains on the show, certainly the best one-shot and managed to accomplish a huge amount in a small time for establishing how the Clark regime was going to go. I really wish she'd come back for more episodes. Obviously, she mostly predates the Fox News blonde stereotype but she manages to have that kind of photogenic Barbie quality that is vaguely unsettling while still appealing.
Also the nakedest villain on the show. That was what really stuck with me (remember, I was in high school when this episode came out).
3. Clark's regime definitely came about as due to the Minbari War and the reminder that humans are such a small tiny species compared to what they THOUGHT they were. You can understand why someone would go to him promising security. The thing is that he only accomplishes making Earth potentially powerful by making an alliance with the Shadows.
Yes, but that is about the only way to get ahead of a technologically superior power that is hostile or potentially hostile.
4. Psi-Corps gets a lot of shit for its evil and they were evil but I actually have a somewhat Magneto-esque view of them.
That was always the intent, it seems to me.
5. Freezing out G'Kar is another reason why it was a dumb idea for the Rangers to keep their circle small.
Freezing out G'Kar was actually a good idea at the time. It is not at all clear to me that G'Kar would not have sold out the Rangers if he thought it could get him help to free his people. It was not until his religious experience on dust that it became clear that he was dedicated to the greater good.
6. The First Ones being such assholes was actually wrong of Ivanova because they're 100% correct the Vorlons are a near complete race of assholes. Perhaps they should have started to ask, "Why are so many people of the mind the Vorlons suck?"
I don't think that any of them completely trusted the Vorlons. But, the Shadows were obviously a threat, and the Vorlons seemed to be the best hope to know how to defeat them. And, what Susan did worked, didn't it?

No, I think they're the ones tear gassing, running people over, and murdering them.

I don't think there's widespread rioting or looting at all.

Or did the fact he said "disavow" instead of the exact word "condemn" mean it doesn't count?
What's your take on the others?
Richard Spencer, the guy who organized the Charlottesville protests, endorsed Joe Biden.
And was immediately denounced.

But we have a President who can speak his own mind: "I've got black accountants at Trump Castle and at Trump Plaza. Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys wearing yarmulkes.... Those are the only kind of people I want counting my money. Nobody else... Besides that, I tell you something else. I think that's guy's lazy. And it's probably not his fault because laziness is a trait in blacks."

It is even him or Biden.
I mean, they really don't like Jo Jorgensen if they heard of her. Go ahead, look her up. It's someone else who is running for president. We don't have a lot of options, but the 2 main terrible ones are the only ones ever really considered.

It is even him or Biden.
Which is the real tragedy.

Here are three different times that Drumpf disavowed David Duke:

https://twitter.com/mad_liberals/status/1311804243582607361
https://twitter.com/RubinReport/status/1311469297613504512

Or did the fact he said "disavow" instead of the exact word "condemn" mean it doesn't count?
Note how in those he says he doesn't like to just blanket disavow groups, even when those groups are white supremacists. So, he doesn't want to just blanket condemn all white supremacists. :?

Also on Duke the problem is what he said in the CNN interview that he was backing away from all the time. "I don't know anything about what you're even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists," he [Trump] said. "So I don't know. I don't know -- did he endore me, or what's going on? Because I know nothing about David Duke; I know nothing about white supremacists."

https://www.cnn.com/2016/02/28/politics/donald-trump-white-supremacists/index.html

So has he been condemning Duke for years as he says in the clip in the 2nd tweet you link or did he not know who he was in 2016 as he said in the interview with CNN? Which is it? Was Trump lying when he said he did not know who Duke was or was Trump's disavowal of Duke the lie. Both? Or is Trump so flaky he just alternates between not knowing who Duke is and condemning him all the time. I think Trump is very flaky so I buy that but this is not exactly an endorsement of his character.
