Re: Star Trek changing direction
In fairness, both ''Relics'' and ''In The Mirror Darkly'' also showed clearly that the 1701 looked like the 1960s version in canon. But I do agree with you, it would be easier to just say that the New 1701 ''always looked like that'' if the previous Treks also went with that.TGLS wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 9:20 pmIt's things like this that make me say that the most damaging episode of Trek is "Trials and Tribble-ations". It may be a good episode in it's own right (which is arguably why it causes so much impact), but it makes going back to previous eras a farce. Redesigning is the right move.clearspira wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 6:02 pm Telling me to accept the Prime 1701 redesign is telling me to not think critically and I refuse to that. There is no possible way that it looked like this before Kirk took over. None.

Is that as likely as the one to come with LF? Don't believe the fandom menace types. They're reporting on rumors, and any insider information they have is highly speculative, at best.clearspira wrote: ↑Fri Oct 02, 2020 6:21 amNope. Ms. Kennedy, for example, will totally be renewed next year.
The fandom menace are also silly drama queens at best, hatemongers pushing their own political agenda while unironically not seeing they are what they claim to hate in the other side, at worst.
Itchy Bacca is one of the worst, pushing his crackpot theories on culture wars and so bitter when you hear him speak, you wonder if he's insane. To him, SJWs cannot be fans. Jeremy was bellowing about the politics in a reaction vid to FXitinPost's SC 38 Reimagined, and politics is hardly the only problems we're still facing in fandom with lackluster entertainment lately.
I wouldn't listen to them. New management is not forthcoming, IMO.
Gonna sleep. Night, all.
Re: Star Trek changing direction
I will never, ever forgive them for the idiotic placement of the Space Scanners. Right on the bridge of the Enterprise some idiot put two LS2004 barcode scanners made by Symbol.
Guess some idiot thought they looked "cool and futuristic"...
Re: Star Trek changing direction
Honestly that's not the real problem with the Kelvin Timeline Bridge, Star Trek and every other Sci-fi series or films have redecorated other objects to add to sets, no the problem is that it's too cluttered:
They added these consoles with glass displays going up to the ceiling on each corner that blocks the main consoles along the walls, thus blocking line of sight from the Captains Chair, plus they add those things you said about and other things that stick out that don't seem to be doing anything, but it's just another thing that makes the bridge more cluttered, and it doesn't make good use of it's wall space as there's this wall of lights behind the Captains Chair that doesn't seem to have a purpose, add in the fact that the camera's zooming around and the lens flairs and you don't really get a sense of were anything is.
While The Original Series (and what Discovery's redesign Bridge kept) is designed with practicality in mind, the Captain has a full view of all the consoles, the wall space is utilized fully:
"I think, when one has been angry for a very long time, one gets used to it. And it becomes comfortable like…like old leather. And finally… it becomes so familiar that one can't remember feeling any other way."

What I want. Less swearing in future installments, and by that, I mean the F-bombs. It's just doing it to be effing edgy, and I don't appreciate it.
Thing is, I wouldn't be entirely opposed to it back in the day, with severe crises like the Dominion war or what Voyager was getting up, theoretically, alone in a hostile territory without reinforcements. Frankly, however, that time has passed, since with even the worst times in galactic history, they never resorted to F-bombs, and don't bring up network censorship, if you please!
This is on par with very bad fanfic I've read, so you should not defend this. Extreme swearing needs justification. I've seen little so far.

Do you mean past the usual FM style nonsense? Nerdrotic, Overlord DVD, G&G, and others? Probably not.
Being right on a few things has hardly given them credibility except a few small individuals among their following. And even then, it's 50-50.

I do agree the swearing needs to be toned down. And no I am not some sort of pearl clutcher that faints when someone says bitch. I swear like a sailor and I actively try not to. So cursing doesn't bother me.Captain Crimson wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2020 3:17 am What I want. Less swearing in future installments, and by that, I mean the F-bombs. I got nothing to say here.

Re: Star Trek changing direction
The only reason I don't do so here is as a courtesy, but at the same time, I do prefer "Snickers" action movies that Mr. Chuck ran down as much as the next fella. However, if it serves no purpose, what is the point? Okay, minor nitpick, but come on, guys! Fandoms are built on that.McAvoy wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2020 3:44 amI do agree the swearing needs to be toned down. And no I am not some sort of pearl clutcher that faints when someone says bitch.
