I think you dramatically overestimate the number of people cheering cop deaths.
Any possibility the slanted media coverage will influence people to side with Mr. 45? I get the reasons they dislike, but at the same time, these are NOT our class peers, but public figures. They have a duty to the truth and respectable journalism, and the impression I get is that too often they let their, rather understandable, disdain for Mr. 45 interfere with the news. Perhaps not to a huge extent, depending on who you ask, but it's hardly an attempt to address the systemic flaws in our society. And this could have the same effect from 2016, driving his base into silence because if they see their flag-bearer being, let's admit it, in some ways unfairly piled on, then they're hardly going to be honest on polls.
I agree Mr. 45 brought this entirely on himself and it deserves mention and dissection from the MSM. Being this slanted in terms of biased coverage, less so.

Being non-violent at protests should be easy, given that when a guy who refused to leave my porch turned violent after several minutes of arguing, I just soaked up the punches while repressing the urge to hit back, even after I fell down, got up again, and he decided to keep punching me.
None of that is going to stop me from cackling over this hated person's misfortune like a half-remembered nightmare viewed through a smoked glass of failure and regrets.
And if we're judging by people who keep their hearts 100% pure vs actual morality or immorality of actions, I want to remind you that, while I have not killed anyone, Goku totally does kill people and also fights for fun. So if both me and Goku were at a protest, I would consider Goku the higher risk factor where possible violence is concerned.
