Trump is going to kill himself if he leaves today. This is stupid even for himself.clearspira wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 6:44 pm Donald Trump, an elderly, obese man (AKA in one of the highest risk categories of all), is leaving hospital today. I dunno, guys. If it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, shits like a duck, then it is probably a duck. Sadly, the anti-mask cult are going to gobble this up.

I'm pretty sure if you throw a brick at someone's head, you intend to kill them.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 7:19 pmThrowing a brick at somebody's face can qualify as non-lethal fighting. None of that is going to stop me from cackling over this hated person's misfortune like a half-remembered nightmare viewed through a smoked glass of failure and regrets.
And if we're judging by people who keep their hearts 100% pure vs actual morality or immorality of actions, I want to remind you that, while I have not killed anyone, Goku totally does kill people and also fights for fun. So if both me and Goku were at a protest, I would consider Goku the higher risk factor where possible violence is concerned.
Another time I might say there's something strange about that last paragraph, but what the Hecate, it's 2020.
also, I thought you said it's unreasonable to expect protesters to never fight back but you did?

but I'm glad you at least, don't want harm to come to cops. and I never said Fuzzy does, I hope he doesn't.

and wile I will admit there are sometimes a bit of humor to someone suffering or dying in various ways, in this case, there is a hatred behind it that taints that otherwise normal response.

Re: So Trump has Covid-19
If you're going with non-violent protests, just take two steps.
One is that, WEAR MASKS. I've seen some where they are not wearing masks. I know this pandemic has exposed the selfishness and carelessness most people have, but it's like when I see people in the store who let their nose free. In some ways, I respect those who don't wear 'em over those who try and half-a** it. They want the benefits of the mask without actually wearing it. Sorry, lady, that's not how life works.
And this ties into the second point. Consider that since it is a lightning rod out there for political activists, crusaders, and extremist and fanatical passions running rampant, you could be doing more harm than good in drawing unsavory elements to you, to discredit you, to stir more hate, to cause more chaos, or to garner fame on the news. Remember what physics tell us. Action-reaction is the nature of the system. And that's precisely what's going on here. Especially since it might be harder but yield better results to take a blow for the team, since it gives the impression you guys are not in control of this violence we see on the news despite claims of "peaceful" and strengthens Mr. 45's Law & Order rhetoric. This is precisely how he could take the white house again even though he just came down with COVID. We are strengthening his hand.
I feel like you have to decide what is more important to you. Truly beating Mr. 45, or symbolic gestures that accomplish little, past making you feel good short-term. But then so does revenge for psychopathic types.
Mr. 45 is the "no-apology" "winner-takes-all" type management approach you expect from a wannabe corporate shark/mafia don, and that, I think, is where his appeal lies, even after so many fumbles.
And the downside here to what I'd said is that, it is the side of the democrats insisting over and over to wear masks, a policy I agree on! And yet, Mr. Biden is the flag-bearer to that message, and it gives off the impression, as I'd said, if those at these protests are NOT wearing masks, and if they are drawing in outside agitators to further spread hatred, then it could easily have a discrediting impact on Mr. Biden's campaign. But leftists really don't want him, do they? My sisters were the ones to convince me he had a great chance of winning this here, and foolishly, I went with it.
Mr. 45 is not wearing a mask, and is the flag-bearer to both the type who flock to authority who do want masks, and those who the anti-mask cult, as noted. In either case, the needs of the incumbent are far different than the needs of the challenger, which is why barring any third-party interference, that no incumbent president has lost the late '70s. And such trends could easily hold true even today.
For every action... there is an equal and opposite reaction...

That is an individual choice that I made, in that one circumstance. Expecting everyone else to make the same choice, especially when threatened with guns and tear gas, is still unreasonable. How about you? How nonviolent are you when subjected to direct personal violence? Can you take a punch on the nose and keep your temper? How about a kick in the shins? How many blows would you take, standing tall and repeating your point verbally, before hitting back? And why do you throw down mercy and empathy like falling petals for the most vile of people while insisting that people who want to protest wanton unpunished murder act like saints?

You are responsible for curating your own media experience, buddy, and this is no better than the annoying pricks who scream "WHY IS NOBODY TALKING ABOUT THIS?" about a topic everyone is talking about on social media.

Captain Crimson, I don't put any trust or credit in anything you have to say about protests or respectability politics or what is "provoking" the other side. That said, don't worry, I always wear a mask to protests, and wear them properly, and passive-aggressively offer a spare mask to people who aren't wearing one. I know that viruses don't care how noble your cause is or how pure your politics.

I've always been talking about unprovoked attacks from the protestors. even if it is a minority of cases, it still should stop if only for that fact that it's conformation bias for the right about you guys being terrorists.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 12:05 amThat is an individual choice that I made, in that one circumstance. I'm not saying anything about provoking the cops, mind you. I'm talking about how outside agitators are increasingly seeing these as a chance to foment more chaos. And chaos helps no one.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 12:08 am Captain Crimson, I don't put any trust or credit in anything you have to say about protests or respectability politics or what is "provoking" the other side.
