Re: So Trump has Covid-19
To get back on topic, I am going to enjoy every minute of this man's suffering, and I am tired of people going all "don't fight hate with hate uwu".

The first thing he did when he got into the white house was take his mask off. Can anyone please give me a good reason not to hope this man dies before he infects more people?

My wife took those steroids. The moment he runs out, he's going to drop like a stone or he'll keep taking them til he drops like a stone.

Because it makes you look like a massive hypocrite? Every time you bring up some evil in the world, which is often in the News section, there will be people rolling their eyes and rightly so.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 3:17 am To get back on topic, I am going to enjoy every minute of this man's suffering, and I am tired of people going all "don't fight hate with hate uwu".

So I can't claim any moral high ground at all while grinning at a man suffering from a disease he did everything within his power to spread and promote, while he has the medical care and supports he would deny to others? I don't have to be a friggin saint to be better than him.

That's not how ethics works, clearspira. I take it you assume that people have to be Jesus and Snow White-levels of loving everyone in order for someone to complain about evil? In fact, whole branches of ethics have the premise of, "Bad people getting fucked up is not a bad thing."clearspira wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 6:31 amBecause it makes you look like a massive hypocrite? Jesus whipped the shit out of religious profiteers.
You can have empathy for the poor, suffering, and innocent while not automatically extending it to a man who literally is banned from charity work in New York because he robbed children with cancer and veterans to enrich his campaign.
That's not hyperbole. That's a thing he did and admitted to. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/10/nyregion/trump-foundation-lawsuit-attorney-general.html
It's such a ridiculously dark and vile thing its hard to believe. He's also been accused of rape by his own wife, a fourteen year old girl, and a magazine editor who claims to have DNA evidence to prove it. Guy is awful and hurts people. Lots and lots of people.
I don't rejoice in his suffering, I just want him to be stopped, but I understand people who consider him a monster.

The problem with Jesus of course is that he is a classical age man living in a time when people thought you were weird if you didn't keep a slave and rape your wife occasionally. This is reflected in the Bible that endorses former and is oddly quiet on the latter.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 9:15 amThat's not how ethics works, clearspira. Basically, setting a 2020 moral compass by Jesus is foolhardy.
The rest of what you said is fair, although revenge is the most worthless of all human emotions. It achieves nothing but the perpetuation of problems.

* Religious hypocrites will use sacred scripture to advance their wealth and political position.
* Money is a worthless thing to pursue as a goal.
* Separation of Church and State ("Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and unto God what is God's)
* The rich are usually the worst people in society, not the best.
* Religious brutalization of women and minorities is vile.
* Pacifism is superior to warmongering and revenge.
* Tolerance of divergent sects (Samaritans), ethnicities (Romans), and the poor.
* You will be required to die or be willing to die to enact real change in the world.
There's a reason that certain people fear his words and work to destroy his teachings.

I was really hoping for a brawl thread between DBF and CP, but you can't win'm all.
