I don't know, I was expecting something more... I guess, grand for the October Surprise, you know, maybe some shocking revelation about Mr. Biden he'd had, or maybe some kinda engineered crisis, you know both sides love to do that. Look how rapidly swiftboating to Mr. Kerry caught on... and this just seems rather anticlimatic. Of course, the month's still young, but if this is the best they have, I don't think those rooting for Mr. Biden have any reason to worry.

You forget Red October is in November.

Trump actually thinks opposing him is the worst thing imaginable.

However, the bigger issue is everything Biden could be criticized for are things that Republicans support.

Mr. Biden does have his own baggage, yet my impression is the media is all too willing to give him a pass they were not for Ms. Clinton.

In any case, it's one of the most irresponsible periods for the press in American history that is not counting outright yellow journalism.

Don't get me wrong, we should still offer criticism to Mr. Biden's baggage, even those voting for him, merely as a form of quality control, yet that doesn't necessarily have to erode one's support, for whatever reason.

The big baggage he has is Clarence Thomas and criminal treatment of black Americans by the justice system that he supported. A spotty environmental record and his support of the Iraq War. Going after him for any of these is good.

However, none of it really is the kind of things Republicans can or would do.

There are other things, such as how the DNC has basically thrown MeToo under the bus for political gain. Or possibly we are on the verge of seeing it lose credibility, which hey, would be fine by me. I support giving victims help, healing, and even a voice, but doing so with the online sphere and most notoriously on a social media setting where hashtag opportunists could just seize the narrative was a mistake. Plus that doesn't substantially help the damage done to society anyway. Ties into desperate need for police reform, as we need more arrests, more convictions, and harsher sentences on these criminals. Yet I doubt we will. They been trying to regulate fairness, morality, and ethics since the dawn of history. I don't think they can do it now.

For the DNC to suddenly start offering support to the MeToo movement following the 2020 election would, frankly, just look utterly ridiculous. And talk about pure, stark hypocrisy.

Mr. Biden may not even be an issue, so much as to what lengths the DNC is willing to go to in order to try and beat Mr. 45 by shielding a candidate who is largely, and to be charitable, lackluster, as he had failed to clinch the nod two times prior to 2020. It's frankly concerning. And they truly can't be of the mindset they will just come back in and pick up the pieces later, since it just doesn't work that way! No doubt the GOP feels the same due to bitter rivalry and hatred of the DNC...

Eh, Biden has a history of no personal space but his one accusation of actual misconduct has been very thoroughly investigated.

Actually, I'm going to call bullshit on this. I'm a die-hard Warren supporter and Biden won the election by the people voting for him over other candidates by a huge-huge majority. It wasn't the DNC who put Biden on the ticket, it was democratic voters.

I think they were WRONG to but the people spoke what they wanted.

Well, I've been struck over the head and kicked in the groin by insomnia again, so I figured why not, head back and check over things here.

I'm not even referring to the primary race so much as how the media has been very irresponsible in trying to accurately reflect voter sentiment. To name one example, they've pretty much buried Ms. Reade's allegations, and yet if this were Mr. 45? Trust me, he's right when he says they'd be howling for months. At this late stage in the game, it's mostly being ignored to try and rally support, and the media is all too willing to accommodate it. How about a few of Mr. Biden's other foibles? I know plagiarism may be small potatoes compared to what Mr. 45 gets up to, I will give you that, but it still deserves a bleeding discussion. Especially from the news media that discussed Ms. Clinton's emails for 500 flipping days, for H's sake! You can't tell me they have their own agenda here after that atrocity?

What happens when the election is over? These are systematic flaws of the decline of the New Economy, a new phenomenon of hate-voting sustaining both parties since Mr. Reagan, and erosion of trust in our sociopolitical system to the point that I still somehow suspect Mr. 45 might eke out a win, since like it or not, at least his voters know he's a scumbag, but they feel that's offset by his potential to cause enough chaos to make a dent in the stagnated political system we have. I can't agree with it, but I do understand it and respect it, to an extent, since chaos and conflict generate more growth than stagnation does. Just refer to the last century to see what I mean.

We need serious change, and now. Four years is not enough time for that, and the media and the DNC establishment has never REALLY known what to do with Mr. Biden except when the time came that he was literally the only alternative compared to Mr. 45, some unknown third party, or Mr. Sanders, and as I had said, I could sympathize to their plight. They don't want a radical like Mr. Sanders to be their flag-bearer, but then the time to show him the door was 2017, right after the election. Not 2020. You don't think the media and DNC rapidly coalescing around Mr. Biden might have contributed to some of his late gains? Since from all accounts, prior to that, they were writing Mr. Biden off as "too old" and running a poor campaign. How does that change once he's in the white house?

It's how the elite use us, and I think with so little to show for it at this late era of American politics, most swing voters are fed up with it. It's everywhere I see in my little slice of Florida.

Weird, because President Trump has multiple rape allegations against him that the media hasn't touched with a ten foot pole.

* Ivanka Trump said that Donald raped her multiple times during their marriage.
* Jane Doe, a 14 year old girl who withdrew the prosecution attempt due to death threats.
https://www.courthousenews.com/rape-allegations-refiled-against-trump/
* E. Jean Caroll, former ELLE editor, claims that Trump raped her and has demanded a DNA sample to run against a dress she has kept.
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/07/nyregion/jean-caroll-donald-trump-lawsuit-rape.html

So, according to you, we should have had these running constantly. I've felt that that they have really dropped the ball in not handling them and treating Trump with kids gloves versus a monstrous person. Mind you, I've also felt they've ignored Trump's ties to organized crime, money laundering for dictators, and other actions that mark him as utterly unfit for office.

I feel like Donald Trump has been treated as "one of their own" by the media so much that like Roman Polanski and Woody Allen, they give him slack that allowed him to coast past what should be disqualifying horrible actions. He's treated as a buffoon by the media and an awfully behaving racist uncle ala Archie Bunker versus a dedicated career criminal.

Re: Tara Reade

I actually followed that story extensively and took a large amount of shit because of my refusal to vote for Biden or Trump during it. I have family that are survivors of sexual assault and will not vote for any President who is guilty of it. It seems a no brainer that you'd never cast your vote for a rapist as you're endorsing it. In the end, the investigation by reporters' findings, changing of Tara Reade's story (including the location where the event supposedly happened), and a long talk with my family that survived sexual assault made me believe it was okay to proceed supporting Biden.

But yes, it is something I am terrified of happening, supporting someone who could do such a monstrous crime.
