If it helps, I tend to believe more in leftist ideals, but I think they need time to fully percolate, and translate into the ever-shifting shape of The Future. It's how my sisters were able to, grudgingly, get me to vote Mr. Biden.

Leftist ideals are great, they just don't always work well in the present with all its grit and hardships. They need time. Since I see a lot of moderate right-wingers who dream of the classical liberalism of old, a color-blind world, while the democrats, not necessarily leftists, want to focus exclusively on certain groups.

This is why, of all the candidates, I think Mr. Sanders would be the best to challenge Mr. 45. Don't get me wrong, he's a fraud, but he's one that appeals well to the large base of liberals whom will shape the future, and retake some of our older values we've lost.

I believe the single biggest problem in the entire world right now, and the one that fundamentally led to Trump (and Brexit, I am not putting myself on a pedestal), is loss of identity. There are deeply held values that have been forged over hundreds of years - values that you may not agree with - but values nonetheless that in a mere 20 to 30 years have been overshadowed or have been rendered obsolete. And that scares people. And angers people. And makes people do stupid things like vote for bad leaders.

I am generally of the persuasion humans, as people, a culture, and nations, are more afraid than we'd like to let on, since it is a jungle mentality where to expose vulnerability means you get claimed as meat for another, or worse. And with all the rapid culture shifts of the last two decades, never mind the last century, and the preceding centuries, that fear is more pronounced than ever, especially as we stand at the edge of a great precipice that will be decide the turning point for the whole human tribe. Will we stand or fall? Time will tell.
