True that. Merely telling people why they should be progressive is not good enough, you have to convince people. And the left is terrible at convincing people. You could say the right is too, but I would say that Trump and Brexit are actually good examples of how a mobilised right is far more effective than the mobilised left as both of these things were effectively the losing side until they won.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Sun Oct 25, 2020 1:53 pmI know what you mean, but jesus we are getting back to square 1 of the reality. I've never liked Joe Biden and I thought he'd make a rotten President but he actually understands the business of government. The constant refrain of "Trump is not a politician!" has just shown that 45 doesn't know how to fucking do the job and didn't bother to learn in 4 years. Pence has been running the government's day to day and I loathe him too.
I'm tired of hearing about the constant attempts to suppress votes, destroy the fucking post office [which we need], and ludicrous conspiracy theories. I hate the nepotism, the constant lying, the fears about defunded medicaid, the arguing with children, the attempts to buy Greenland, and other bizarre behavior.
I'm not even bringing the lack of a plan because of a desire to pretend a plague doesn't exist.
I am just...tired of 45.
The Republican party is specifically good at circusing the whole thing, and there's really only so many avenues you can take with conscious directives over conservative ones.

Alright, so the populace on both sides is subject to fallacies associated with individualistic expression to the point where you can distinguish the npcs on both sides. Like you have machines in the form of left and right establishments, progressives and conservatives; they each have a general order to things that makes them work their ideals (or lack thereof amirite!) into the system.clearspira wrote: ↑Sun Oct 25, 2020 3:20 pmTrue that. The kicker, is that Trump and Brexiters fuel specifically on individualistic reasoning as their ideal. AOC and Bernie Sanders appealed to a lot of people on the left that individually feel they can point to the problems of society, but the system in place for reform is much more sluggish than that. It's like pointing to the machine and fixating on the hydraulics of one particular section without context of the entire system.

Plus there is also the indisputable fact Mr. Biden is only marginally better, so it's not a quick fix. The GOP will get exactly all that they want from him, and trust me, a lot of voters who hadn't known that much about him due to the DNC running a side campaign because of "COVID" will suddenly be shocked this is their new president. And rest assured, if he does not step down in four years, as he had hinted at, there will be even more unrest. But then, will the MSM even cover that? I doubt it. It's really going to be more of Ms. Harris's government than his, which raises the question why she should be at the second rung of the ticket. Because the DNC truly does believe in and want to weaponize white privilege, the way I see it. It's a horrible year and why I just did not want to get involved.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Sun Oct 25, 2020 1:53 pmI know what you mean, but jesus we are getting back to square 1 of the reality. Not quite true. Your right-wing party convinced people. Ours convinced a few, but mostly won like it has for decades, with voter suppression and gerrymandering.clearspira wrote: ↑Sun Oct 25, 2020 3:20 pmTrue that. The funny thing is that I used to be a Republican before George W. Bush. I thought that it was betraying their core ideals to endorse torture (and I didn't become a Democrat because they endorsed the Patriot Act and Obama didn't recind all those horrible provisions in the law like the Patriot Act). However, we're living in a time when it seems like the law doesn't matter over "winning."BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Sun Oct 25, 2020 1:53 pm

It wasn't Trump that broke me of my belief the GOP has gone insane. It was the Governor of Georgia when he eliminated 100K voter registrations, mostly black, before Stacy Abrams and he ran against one another.
Then won by a handful.
We either have fair elections as a country or we don't.

I think that about the democrats. Don't get me wrong, the GOP is far worse, but at the same time, the DNC is sabotaging themselves big time. They have effectively buried any scandal of Mr. Biden so that, if he is to win the election, no one is going to know what to do with him. Mr. 45's victory has been handled all wrong. To beat him, the DNC needs to realize there is no going back, it's a paradigm shift. Which is why the Russian accusations is a source of comfort to them. They want to think they could have won even in 2016, it was just dem Russians hacking our elections. To most non-partisans, it's not even an issue. This system cannot sustain itself as it with only four years, built on what the 2020 election has been. No matter who wins.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2020 12:10 amThe funny thing is that I used to be a Republican before George W. Bush. I was a Republican then so...not well? I didn't support NAFA, I didn't support Three Strikes, and I was a great admirer of George H.W. Bush.
Not to point a fine point but Trump won Pennsylvania by 50K. Like less than a percent. Similarly a couple of other Rust belt states. I hated Hillary Clinton for her abuse of foreign policy, her awful stances on the economy, and her general unwillingness to stand up to the economy's as well as dictatorships. However, she lost by a hair in a few swing states.Captain Crimson wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2020 12:19 amI think that about the democrats. Which is a sign Trump is a terrible candidate despite running with 40 years of name recognition that he couldn't do better.
If they'd done ANYTHING different in the Rust Belt she'd be president.

I was more so referring to the MSM burying Mr. Biden's myriad scandals. I have no idea how they'd handle this if he won. Like it or not, the distrust in our institutions cannot be stopped and they have only intensified it. It's just going to accelerate more and more as time passes. I sincerely doubt that we can go back "to the way things were" in merely four years. It's just more of the same old, same old, just packaged more nicely. And if we could, it would require someone who is more inspiring and frankly younger than Mr. Biden. He is not going to be there to make it.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2020 3:07 amI was a Republican then so...not well? I feel like I have every right to say this since I was dragged kicking and voting into an electoral process I don't believe in. So let me complain about the septuagenarian I didn't want to vote for.
