Thank you for the correction. I need to read these things more carefully.

And now for a news update on the people working to help these children. Highlights include "It wasn't just tears, it was screams"

Its always sad when children are punished for the crimes of their parents. With any luck these kids will serve as a warning to the next set of parents who choose to try and trespass in another country.

Those children will grow up in a safer environment, get education they likely wouldn't get otherwise, will have food and (mostly) safe drinking water (unless located in Flint, Michigan) and have prospects to get a job which can support themselves and their own emerging families. I don't see this working out as you expect and wish, luckily.

That is... just so shockingly heartless, how could you say that? I felt Madner Kami had raised more pragmatic reasons for this, that at least the kids will, theoretically, get a better education and opportunities than they did back home. Doesn't make it right, but your remark doesn't either.

I must disrespectfully agree with Captain Crimson.

If your take-away from my post is, that I endorse taking children away from their parents, then you misread me, grossly.

I'm not heartless, I feel for the kids. BUT nor do I think that there is anyone to blame but the parents. ILLEGAL immigrants are criminals - there is no difference between this and taking your kids with you to rob a bank. And lets be clear here: Mexico is not Somalia. Its a pretty nice place to live on the grand scale of things. These people were not fleeing war, genocide, persecution; they just wanted to live in a richer country. Any ''but the parents had to do it!'' excuse just does not fly here.

All i'm saying is, if more parents realise that their drive to have a bigger house by entering another country illegally has consequences then maybe they'll actually apply for citizenship legally like everyone else does.

You realize very often their parents have committed no crimes, right? It's not a crime to enter the United States and request asylum. Every person who took the child from those refugees needs to be taken out back behind the barn and killed for kidnapping.

These people were arrested and their children taken for doing NOTHING illegal.

And even if they were, it should be a misdemeanor to enter the country without declaring.

Again, dumb fucking argument because there's nothing illegal about entering the United States and declaring you're seeking refuge.

It's not illegal NOW but they were TREATED as illegal and thus everyone who took their kids is a kidnapper and deserves to spend their life in prison. As does everyone who participated in their kidnapping.

This is not hyperbole. What they did is evil and a crime.

We're dealing with an insane government that does not understand how immigration law works.

And why the fuck should we treat TRESPASSING as a federal felony? In what universe is trespassing worth killing someone over? Or hurts anyone?

I wasn't saying that, and I would like to apologize if it seemed that way for misspeaking. In no way do I think you endorse that. Ever.

I guess I can understand that, especially since the news has to be reaching Mexico given the incendiary rhetoric here. This place is not safe for them. It's safe nowhere now.
