So they've lost more than six seats then? Since A I don't have a subscription to the Spectator and B it's not the most reliable source of information. Perhaps you'd like to tell me what the data says. Also don't use the word one it doesn't make you clever.TexasRed wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 7:41 pmOh the loses go much further than a mere six seats.unknownsample wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 6:55 pmBy gained massively you mean six seatsand have gained massively in the house so Biden's likely to be a lame duck President.

As an analyst one must take all data points into consideration. The loses in the house have stripped the Dems of a super majority and if this repeats at anywhere near the same scale come 2022 the dems will suffer their biggest loss in decades.

Supermajority isn't a thing in the house as everything is done by simple majority and there is no filibuster in the house.TexasRed wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 7:41 pmOh the loses go much further than a mere six seats.unknownsample wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 6:55 pmBy gained massively you mean six seatsand have gained massively in the house so Biden's likely to be a lame duck President.

It's a thing when you don't have the president. Which the Dems do.Draco Dracul wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 12:37 am Supermajority isn't a thing in the house as everything is done by simple majority and there is no filibuster in the house.

Unless you're talking about the 67 percent needed to override a veto, which the Democrats didn't have to begin with and doesn't matter unless you have the same in the Senate, it isn't a think.TGLS wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 1:06 amIt's a thing when you don't have the president. Okay, that at least covers things from the legal perspective.
In terms of sheer coup manpower, I don't have to worry about the official armed forces. But I am worried about the cops and the national guard.

That said, even if they have no problem dragging him out, even if he has no legal leg to stand on and not enough force to back him up, there's damage he is already doing. He's not turning over information to prep the incoming team. He can burn a lot of things on his way out and metaphorically upper-deck a lot of the toilets of functioning democracy.
Plus it's just so terrifying to watch this. Administration officials being told to come up with a budget nobody will use, being threatened if they in any way acknowledge the winner of the election, him making appointments. It's disturbing in the way this entire presidency has been disturbing. It never should have gotten this bad. He should have been removed from office when he was impeached. He should have been stopped by the rest of his party instead of enabled by them. He should have lost the electoral college as well as the popular vote. He never should have been nominated in the first place.
