What man?
Distrust in public institution is a little more firm standing than distrust in an individual.

That being said, Fuzzy has been strongly trying to make a case for distrust of every cop on an individual basis for matters of association.
Guilt by association fallacy. Like we haven't had that a million times in our short recorded history already.
I fuckin hate generalizations.
And yet they persist so long. Or people shame you for not wanting to apply generalizations to Group B after they applauded you for the same mentality for Group A.

You just can't win with some people.

Let me posit this hypothetical scenario, and ask a question, to all those who distrust police.

For some reason, I can't speak to what it is, but through some unforeseen circumstance, likely outside your control... you find yourself in Central Park. You can't get out before dusk and then night falls. And as you're frantically trying to make your way back to your destination, you hear a scream, the sounds of violence. You have a phone, nothing else that could be used as a weapon. Bonus question. You head on over and find it's a gang of thugs brutalizing someone. A man, woman, maybe even a child or some disenfranchised minority. There are far too many for you to take down all at once by yourself. Do you seek out a police officer, or call them up on your phone? Try to make it better?

I ask you. What would you do in that situation? Really. If you answered in any way other than yes... well, TBH, it's what I've come to expect from political fanatics.

Since it's the same hypocrisy inherent in the radicals who want to defund and abolish police thinking that it will make things better, who would be the first to mourn their absence all the more. In a radicalized country, I'd say don't increase funding to police, but don't cut it either. Because civilization no matter the form, socialist, capitalist, whatever, is not ready for a world without law enforcement. That's just the facts.

Let me answer your question as honestly as I can.

I would panic. Central park as darkness is falling. I have gotten close enough to a large group of violent persons harming another. Attack means two victims instead of one. Call the police? Do you know how much light your phone gives off? Send a flare why don't you. And I do not know about you but calling 911 has never been discrete nor swift. I pull out my phone and make that call I will be seen and or heard. I back off to make the call I risk being seen or heard as well. My choices are run away crying and pray to survive to feel ashamed. Or I attack and hope my first hit is unsuspecting and I can cause the attackers to momentarily scatter. So that I have a chance of informing 911 who I am and say good-bye to my family before they come back and kill me.
The scenario in question is a no win scenario.

It looked like an unlikely no win scenario to me. Starting with me being anywhere near central park. But that is a digression. I tend to agree that you can't just lump all police in one category. You can't simply abolish the police and all will be sunshine and rainbows. The police can be a great force of good and I support my local police. At this time. I have to put that disclaimer because we have had a few very bad police officers. One that used his position to ticket whomever he chose. He used the drug seizure laws to steal cars from people. We had another that was an outright racist and bully. We eventually managed to remove both of those bad officers. Our current force is swift in response, knows the town and is courteous and professional. We got that by removing the bad elements, not disbanding nor giving away our police department.

This force in Louisville? I seriously doubt the whole department is corrupt. These two officers? It sounds like they are rotten and should be under a microscope. The leadership sounds weak and probably should be replaced. Not because they are conspiring villains, but because they sure look incapable of their jobs.

Moving the goalposts and appeal to emotion fallacy.

A violent gang never has official sanction from governmental institutions. They are anarchists, acting outside the law. While law enforcement can cross the line with their methods in trying to conform to the law, or break it themselves. The two are not one in the same.

Not the philosophy, I mean in the more literal sense.

I'm afraid there isn't much of a "literal" sense of anarchy beyond the philosophy. As far as labeling people Anarchists, that is.

Mind you this is a clear case of one of them generalizations you're so weary of.
