the thing is that most slave owners didn't know it was wrong because it was the only thing they knew. but you guys know wishing death on someone is wrong, even a monster deserves his sanctity of life respected at bare minimum.

Have you ever reassessed that conviction? Cuz like, I really think you do. At least TRY the other recipes for a moral framework.

there is actually a bit more nuance in my moral framework but I still literally have a physical reaction to even the thought of something that goes against empathy.

It doesn't matter how well some slave owners may have treated their slaves, they still owned slaves.

We rarely agree, and your need to throw shade on my manhood as if that somehow is meant to wound me is really laughable, thanks for that.

But this here, this is 100% true. I mean, you can't even argue "but it was the times back then!" It was a flawed economy built on the backs of oppression and cruelty, even if some later changed that.

Sorry, Dragon Ball Fan, but I won't support you on this.

not saying that people like Trump shouldn't face cosequences at all but when someone says they are witholding their empathy for Trump, no, you can't do that, you have no choice in feeling empathy, it is hardwired into your brain, unless you are a sociopath.

I don't consider empathy a survival trait so much as a byproduct of our civilization experiment the first humans set down around ten thousand years ago.

Trump doesn't deserve my empathy, I'd sooner piss on his grave in front of his 14 year old son before feeling bad for him and his family.

Were empathy a biproduct of civilization, civilization could never have started in the first place as civilization requires the vast majority of it's population to be willing to take one for the team as the advent of agriculture, while providing greater stability, resulted in reduction in average caloric intake.
