Look, I understand the mindset. That you'd prefer justice, life in jail or execution by our peers if warranted, as to actual wishing someone dead, yes? And even in those cases, it is a grim necessity.

However, that's way too simplistically idealistic for the world we live in. Frankly, it's the way most people think, but it's just not how life is, at all. It's just basic b**** s***, as my friend would say.

I'm not sure he's reading into it that far. He's saying it's just simply wrong to think those things of anyone under any circumstance by word of God.

But for all of that, there is a moral distinction between wishing death on somebody and actually trying to kill them. If I had 45 lying in front of me, completely paralyzed, with a knife in my hand, and the knowledge that I could dispose of the body and never ever be caught, would I do it? I honestly don't know. I know I wish horrible death on him now, and that if I hear he chokes on a pretzel or dies from covid complications or gets eaten alive by driver ants I will sing and dance with joy. But there is a mile of difference between the desire and the deed.

With apologies for quoting a TERF, Rowling was right in book 6. Murder is not nearly as easy as the innocent suppose.

But as Chuck said, you don't become a good guy just because you oppose the bad guy. There are some good actions you can go out of your way to do but in terms of actions, being good is more about what you DON'T do.

and the only time I can see a good guy getting satasfaction at someone else's suffering is something like Future Trunks from Dragon Ball Z making Future Android 17 and 18 feel helpless and afraid before killing them when returning to his post-apocalyptic alternate future.
