Doctorate does not mean Doctor

This is for topical issues effecting our fair world... you can quit snickering anytime. Also I don't think chiropractors need a doctorate compared to physical therapists.

Of course getting a doctorate should mean you're a doctor. There's no good reason at all to change it.

If the standards are slipping that's a separate issue altogether. If it's getting easier on the other hand because we're getting better at bringing people up to the same standard (I'm sceptical but it shouldn't be dismissed) that's something to celebrate, yay, more doctors, in whatever field and not just medicine.

As far as the technical aspects, the guy seems pretty clueless as to the broad filings of doctoral work.

As for the social commentary, I'd just like to presume that he's not very qualified to assess Jill Biden's work and has no real basis to make her an emblem for what's wrong with Clintonian Democrats and their involvement with leftist society.

'Of course not! That's TERRIBLE! How can doctors feel smug and superior about being doctors if just ANYBODY can be one?! It's not SPECIAL anymore! But how can we stop them? AH! Jack up tuition fees!'

Joking, of course. Except about the tuition fees.

I don't understand at all. You earn your doctorate you earn the title of Doctor. We can all debate about being a Doctor of Philosophy versus being a Medical Doctor or something. There is a few jokes about that floating around.

I see no problem having a First Lady being called Doctor. She earned it.

I saw this but never read the article or the debate about though.
I got nothing to say here.

Since I last posted? No. But I haven't really looked into it at all.

Is there a reason why I should?

The specific objection is that news media style guides, only medical doctors are routinely referred to as "Dr.", and only if they are practicing. Ben Carson has been rarely referred to as Doctor during his tenure as HUD secretary, for instance, despite being a top brain surgeon.

Jill Biden's insistence on being referred to by the title seems to have to do with her own insecurities about being married to a senator, which Joe Biden has ascribed as her motivation for getting an EDD (she is not a PhD).
A managed democracy is a wonderful thing... for the managers... and its greatest strength is a 'free press' when 'free' is defined as 'responsible' and the managers define what is 'irresponsible'.”

Kind of like Dr. Dre getting a PhD in musical arts.
