I agree but as long as police unions exist the injustice of what should be a source of justice will exist.

Yeah, I realize I went to far on this thread too. I guess I was focusing too much on the left, not that I take back everything I said, though.Captain Crimson wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 2:54 pm Hey.
I'd like to take the time to... well, I want to apologize. I feel like I've been way too harsh in sneering on leftists, and I do think it got a bit out of hand, at least on my end.
Maybe this thing affected me more than I realize, or maybe it's just been a very stressful election year. I've seen people in my own circles defending this insane charge on the capital, or doubling down on their war on cops, but I think the worst part was hearing my eight-year-old niece just spit the words that "the cops are dirty thugs and all deserve to die" not long after this, because they should have stopped it. Shocked the H out of me, turns out she heard it from her friend and her friend's mom, so that I took the time to turn on my uncle's police scanner and told her the daily rigors of how hard the police have it. The good they do, and the bad. I hope I made my point. Time will tell.
Does that mean police outreach is okay? H, no! And should we blindly trust law enforcement officials? No. But I also deep down really find it appalling that we as a society are inching closer to the time where calling the police to solve some crime is going to be controversial, all because the media gets great ratings off the drama... trust me, that's not far off on the horizon. Like the time I had to call the cops on a next-door neighbor that was beating up some poor woman, and they handled it professionally. He was very drunk and spent the night in a holding cell. When that day comes, I'll be guilted for calling 911 to save that girl. And if people are already too scared to call law enforcement, it's probably why crime is on the rise in some places and isn't being stopped.
Sigh... still, that's no excuse for poor behavior. I think I'll be taking some time off the internet. Especially since I've feeling a bit under the weather lately. Hope I don't have COVID!
And I'm sorry for my words.

This is deeply encouraging and I hope this is the attitude that takes root. This is already shaping up to be a 9/11-like event in terms of national psychic damage, and a genuine fear many have is that some monstrosity like the Patriot Act could come of it.
That voices in government are instead calling for investigating institutional rot and enforcing existing laws on right-wing domestic groups instead is much closer to what is needed in this instance.

So like I said, the Democrats are going to use this like the Nazis used the Reichstag fire. Is it maybe starting to make more sense how a bunch of unarmed people were able to make it into the Capitol Building and do as they pleased for so long, only to then be allowed to leave?CmdrKing wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 11:25 am Anyway, in non-coup apologia matters.

I honestly thing that's a big source of the problem right there. That and the concept of "qualified immunity" that's been codified into law.Thebestoftherest wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 3:08 pm I agree but as long as police unions exist the injustice of what should be a source of justice will exist.

And I still am sorry for being to lenient on the right but the left have done still done bad things too. For me, the concept of the moral high ground is tied to my sense of self worth and it baffles me that isn't the case for everyone. The things both sides have done, I would literally rather die then do or say any of those things, that's how much I value my principals.

That is your problem. Because then when confronted with something you have done or said that threatens your moral high ground, you need to twist yourself into knots to make it fit so you can keep thinking of yourself as a morally flawless person.Dragon Ball Fan wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 2:15 am And I still am sorry for being to lenient on the right but the left have done still done bad things too. I'm assuming that there will me an attack at the inauguration with the explicit goal of killing Biden, Harris, Pelosi, and Schumer.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 9:55 am Meanwhile, the right-wing coalition of sedition is planning another attack.
