WandaVision [SPOLIER DISCUTIONS]

Post by Link8909 »

So I've watch the first two episodes of WandaVision, and I already love it, this is a series that's great at giving a false sense of security.

While my knowledge of sitcoms is limited to Friends, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Home Improvement, and general cultural osmosis, in-fact the closes to black and white television shows I've watched is The Rifleman (With Chuck Connors!), but already I love and get why these early sitcoms were so beloved, WandaVision is just so wholesome and feel-good, both Wanda and Vision are a great comedy duo, with Vision being absolute hilarious, I love the simple episodic stories, and overall puts a smile on my face watching it.

So then when things get weird and uncomfortable things start happen, they really do feel like an intrusion to the happy fantasy, rather than the happy fantasy always seeming off and everyone being unnerved, I honestly empathise with Wanda in wanting this fantasy, a simple world where Vision isn't dead and everything fine and Vision isn't dead and Vision isn't dead and Vision is dead and Vision isn't dead and Vision isn't dead.

Surprised I haven't seen many references to Pleasantville just considering it had a similar premise.

This show is incredibly cute though. The tropic lines of the era are so thick that they carry 98% the show's substance creating vivid but not lucid understanding of what's going on just by replicating episodes of past eras with precise consistency.

Well, the blueprint(grayprint?) for this show is Bewitched. The first episode plot is a exact Bewitched plot. Though the house set is based on the set of The Dick Van Dyke Show...that is based as in nearly identical(Dick Van Dyke himself was consulted).

I hope they don't drag out the Bewitched stuff too long. It's a dream/alternate reality/hologram whatever...we know. So lets just get to it all ready.

So for a villain who can it be? Master Pandemonium? Andrais and Amanda Von Stucker? AIM? Hydra?

My guess will be an Elder of the Universe: The Couch Potato!

The African American lady is Monica Rambeau, and that is a character in the comics. She has energy powers and has gone under a couple names.

Kat Dennings is in this....as Darcy Lewis, the character she played in the Thor movies.....so, hummm?

And the Jimmy Woo character from Ant man and the Wasp comes along too.

So with Jimmy and Darcy joining the show soon, lets hope they get out of TV Land quick....

Hmmm, if it follows The Vision, which is its inspiration, the final showdown is probably Wanda vs. Vision. And while that might seem like a curb stomp battle for Wanda, Vision is no slouch in his own right.

What does anything the Stork was, something Wanda made or something else? Why couldn't she remove it?

Ok, I just watched up to episode four. So far, I really like it, Olsen and Bettany have great chemistry and really feel like people who are in love with each other. The sitcoms are played pretty straight and I love that, its making me want to go back to when I used to stay up to watch Nick at Nite reruns of Three's Company and Giligan's Island. I really loved the opening to the fourth episode where the blip is shown in a hospital. I was like, YES, that is how you show that, not that offhanded "oh no, our highschool band reappeared in the middle of our basketball game" zany bs.

I am a little confused on one thing though. Is Vision a self aware individual with agency apart from Wanda, a manifestation of Wanda's Psyche, or something created by a third Party? Wanda doesn't seem to have complete control of Vision's actions and thoughts considering we follow him suspecting something is off but seemingly not knowing while Wanda seems to know enough about what is going on to not be confused at least.

According to Monica "it's all Wanda". She's created her own reality as a way of coping with the loss of Vision, who truly is dead and will probably stay dead. Anytime that reality starts to slip, she just hits the reverse button, or in Monica's case, kicks her out of her reality. Everyone else that we've seen are basically residents of that town held hostage and are play acting for Wanda. If they resist, they probably go to the corn field.

Which means Wanda may be the villain of this story. Either she'll need to come to terms with her loss and stop this herself, or someone else will have to stop her.

I wonder if the neighbor character is the devil on her shoulder.
