I saw that cameo and I liked it a lot.

There might be ones you like even more coming up. Patrick Stewart is supposed to get a cameo. Scott Bacula too, maybe (I don't think he's a bad actor, but I think starship commander was the wrong role for him).

If they're getting Stewart and Bakula in they desperately need to add recruit Brooks, Mulgrew and Shatner in some some sort of retired Captain's meeting
Thread ends here. Cut along dotted line.

Union command: "So....you blew up a vortex that led to every point in time....don,t you think we could like to study it before you did that?

Captain Mercer: Look, we can't afford Charlize THeron becoming a reccuring character!

What I don't get is, if they originally got blown up before Theron went back in time to save them, and blowing up the wormhole changed the timeline so that they never met Theron, then, uh, why aren't they space dust?

I think I can fan wank this.
My thesis is that there are two different kinds of changes to the timeline, one is an anomaly, the other is a ripple. The anomaly, is something that comes from another time, a time traveler for example and ripples are caused by those anomalies, ripples are changes made to the timeline made by anomalies, if you then as reaction to the ripples do something that, stops the anomaly from occurring, you erase the anomaly, but it doesn´t have an effect on the ripples, you cannot reverse the changes that were made by a time traveler. In Orville´s case, Charlize Theron is the anomaly, and the Orville surviving is a ripple, you can also use this theory to explain the first season finale of the Flash, though I think this theory breaks down for later seasons and Legends of tomorrow.

So this episode had my kids absolutely rolling on the floor with laughter. Robots and practical jokes do not mix.

This show is amazing.

I thought the most recent episode wasn't bad, but the most uninteresting one since the pilot. In the Orville versus Disovery debate, I was originally firmly in camp Orville, but if my only exposure had been Orville 1x05 versus Discovery 1x03, I probably would have given it to Discovery as the more promising looking one.

Orville is doing time travel in a way that doesn't make sense? Wow... If they mess up evolution soon too, they'll really have grabbed the crown as the new Trek. ;)

I liked this one the best so far. No, the time-travel aspect didn't make a lick of sense, but I don't think I've seen time travel on TV that I've really liked. I think MacFarlane grew into the role a bit, and I definitely enjoyed the humor more with this episode.

Just once, though, I'd like someone to ask, "Was it all a lie?" and have the answer be, "Yep."
