So you support firing a guy who said "women suck," but not a woman who says "men suck?"

I read every tweet that was in the links you provided and she didn't tweet that. She was complaining about racism and misogyny in her industry. And considering what Star Wars fandom is increasingly known for, I have no problem believing that author has experienced such things.

And, in general response to the quoted words, context is important.
For instance, saying, "Men suck, because of patriarchy" is a bit different than "Men suck".
There is also a concept called "social power dynamics". TV star demeaning trans people is different that author demeaning... the publishing industry. One of those things is punching down, the other is punching up.

And again, these two situations you keep comparing... don't compare.

Ok, just so I can understand this, was she fired from Lucasfilm for invoking Godwin's Law in a social media post? I mean comparing what the right wing face now explicitly with the holocaust, or the actual mass extermination is ridiculous but I don't think it makes her some intolerable bigot though. Oh wait, was she that actress that talked bad about pronouns or something last year?

Until the election turnout she was maybe at most known as just being a conservative. She echoed election fraud, and her tweets about improving election integrity got a lot of attention. Social media called for her firing because they said she supported the electoral conspiracy but it went ded until this happened.

The link is on the first page, but she said that Nazis scapegoated the Jewish people of Germany, namely pitting ordinary people against them, and used that as the basis for comparison to treatment of Republicans in the US.

She is not "being treated like Hitler". She is an actress who got cast in a Star of War. She said a bunch of things on a very public social media platform that reflected poorly on the Disney brand, so she lost the job acting Stor Wor. That has everything to do with Disney not wanting their brand ruined and nothing to do with your imagined Woke Armies.

Your posts in this thread are a good explanation of why people took your apology with a certain amount of skepticism. This is the actress being hoisted by her own ill-chosen petard.

The explicit comparison was the underlying logic of scapegoating, or at least as I learned of the Nazis in high school.

People need to remember that the First Amendment only protects your freedom of expression from governmental interference and prosecution (within reason). It does nothing to stop consequences from private industries. In fact, it is just as much within their rights to say they do not want to associate with you.

There are plenty of conservatives working for Disney who understand they represent the brand and so some things are best kept to themselves. Poking marginalized groups in the eye and then playing the victim when called out for it is a bad look for not just her but the company. Trying to appropriate one of the ultimate cases of victimhood was a bridge too far.

It's a shame because it will probably hurt The Mandelorian to have her gone. But, when you're short-sighted, you don't consider these things.

I believe Al-1701 is referring to Carano not putting her pronouns in her twitter bio after being asked to and then later calling her pronouns "beep/boop/bopp" which was taken as mocking of the transcommunity.
