How about we don't threaten to execute a woman in her nineties for a symbolic defeat of a monarchy that's already effectively toothless.

The monarchy has power in theory but not in practice - the unspoken agreement is that it remains as long as it's not used (well, not used other than in a ceremonial manner or strictly in accordance with procedure, i.e. she exercises her power "as advised by Parliament.")
