Hope they find a way to return him.

This was a big disappointment. I don't have an emotional attachment to his work like the OP, so it doesn't hurt on that personal level. However, I've liked his work and hearing what was going on behind the scenes does taint it.

Re: Joss Whedon
I think that comes down to his preference for standalone stories. Even though he helped usher in serialized storytelling, it was always part of his formula on his shows that a storyline only plays out for a season, and then the next season starts up a whole new storyline. This is why there were no season cliffhangers. He hated that gimmick. He also claims he didn't like how THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK left things hanging.Thebestoftherest wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 8:52 pm Yeah, I wish they could have build ultron up. I mean Cap and iron man could used that
This applies to his AVENGER films. Even though the first clearly built off of the previous films, it actually works well as a standalone film, as it brings audiences up to speed on the characters, their motivations, etc before proceeding with the immediate story. That aspect of the film is part of why it was so broadly accessible for audiences. If you missed the first Thor film, no worries, you'll still learn all about Thor and his relationship to Loki.

Guess that is true, although he did seems to have a hard time figuring out how to make all the characters works.
