Really? I think it's just amusingly similar. Not like a big deal or anything.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 7:03 amHonestly I still don't really understand what you were saying here.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 3:31 amAlright, well I think we can take this as a lesson in oversite in how we transmit our message to others.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 1:51 amI know I talked about that Janitor, but when in Hecate's name did I ever compare EVERYONE here to that guy? <_>BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 1:05 amlol the janitor that wasn't actually turning people in because he was a Nazi, just because he was trying to do his job.

Yeah any problem with Padme is more Lucas not knowing how to direct her to allow her to emotion or him having a warp sense of priorities.

Well Bridge, the difference in that case is I'm some jackass on a scifi forum using a pseudonym whereas she is a blue-check-mark actor posting under her own name.

May be a mixed opinion, I love Padme more than Leia.

And that's different how?Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 3:29 pm Well Bridge, the difference in that case is I'm some jackass on a scifi forum using a pseudonym whereas she is a blue-check-mark actor posting under her own name.
I was asked a few pages earlier, what I as a German think about the happenings. I perfectly agree with her. She uses a hyperbole, a badly chosen one to be honest, but I get what she is going for and I find it the top of Mount Irony, that she catches the flak like that, because it perfectly proves her point: Modern politics are so badly broken, that there is no middle-ground anymore. You either agree and obey the new language- and thought-police or you are figuratively and, sometimes, literally declared to be the new Hitler and get shouted down, doxxed and harassed like crazy. It still obviously escapes certain people (on this forum as well), that the more you are a total arsehole to those who are within the middle-ground, the more you drive them away from you, eroding society further and further till nothing is left but extremes and, ironically, the right is far more accepting of deviation from their basic principles these days, than the extreme left is, so the overall trajectory seems very clear to me. The result won't be nice.
Oh and I wouldn't compare it to the Weimarer Republic. The failures of the Weimarer Republic are manyfold and it isn't just a breakdown in communication between the left and the right. A large part in it's downfall is also a huge economic breakdown of a heavily militarized society and I am not talking militarized in the 2nd Ammendment way. I mean heavily militarized as in freshly out of a war involving millions of soldiers and people who grew up knowing nothing but war from their adult life. A lack of proper demobilization, caused both by the necessity of retaining military in order to keep the republic stable, mostly in the form of paramilitary formations (the Freikorps), as well as a strong military leadership facing a weak political leadership. And, of course, a society that is heavily focused on being lead by a single man, both by tradition and experience.
What strikes me as the top of hubris and hypocracy is, how people treat Gina Carano on Twitter and elsewhere. If the Left were able to take a step back and have a look at their own behaviour, then they might realize that they are the exact same dipshits as the dipshits on the right they keep on criticising. But as has been declared on this forum repeatedly, by Fuzzy and other nutjobs: You are either with them or against them. There is no middle ground and Centrists are worse than Hitler.

The G Canon and C Canon. TCW had its moments, mostly with the clones stuff and Ahsoka, that's pretty much the only area Mr. Filoni can be creative in, but overall, to me it was just a tired rehash of what had already come before.
And this isn't preference for the actress, mind you. Ms. Portman is hot, but I've read a lot of the Naboo-centric EU material, so I have a lot of appreciation for how they fleshed out her character, her family, and the Naboo people. Like her Episode I journal.

Re: Gina Carano fired
Something else to bring up in regards to Ms. Carano's sacking.
I want to preface this, I've said before, I think her comparison was in bad taste, and it was something of a flawed analogy, but at the same time, they proved it right - at least in terms of accusations at the MSM.
But... some of these MSM articles are just so much trash, you can't trust anything they say. This is how the Trump phenomenon comes about and why it's getting worse, not better - which you'd assume it was since he's been voted away. How is Ms. Carano "denigrating" Jewish culture? At all? That's what some of these "news" articles claimed, and it's a misleading narrative. At worst, you could claim it's a cultural faux pas, maybe even offensive, but in no way is she minimizing the horror of the Jews. At all.
It seems increasingly clearer with every day that we've lost the ability as a people and as a nation to discuss or acknowledge the nuance of any particular issue, and one would think the moderates regaining control of the conversation would help, but since they're the ones who got us in this mess with the flawed abortion that is the modern-day state of the economy and infrastructure, I find little hope could come from them.
Honestly, her firing scares me way worse than what she said. For months, months it was nonstop Twitter drama, which you know, we all get s*** online. But it was the lies that were the worst, spinning the narrative so the media outlets picked up with it. Accusing her of transphobia, simply because she didn't put pronouns in her bios, but neither did many other LF employees, so that make them transphobic? And human beings are flawed, but to act like she's some istaphobe here is way scarier to me, when that's not the case. Nothing I ever saw from her Twitter made me think that. This was a political dismissal, plain and simple. These big companies seem at every turn to want to cater to the nutjobs on Twitter. They don't believe in this, they don't care about diversity and representation (look at how often they bend they knee to China because they can't sustain themselves with anything less than that), when they shoved Finn into the background literally in the Chinese TFA poster.
Catering to the Twitter crowd is insanity, and harmful to long-term business. They want the younger, diverse crowd, but our interests is fickle, and there's so many other entertainment brands out there, they need the loyalist holdout fans more than ever, as customers, but that's just not the kind of money they want. I work in retail, and I can tell you, it's a jungle out there. A lot of these big brands the Hollywood vultures get their claws into, doesn't sell in the way they want. It makes me wonder what's going on in these boardrooms.
I didn't think Ms. Carano was a particularly good actress, but getting her fired under the labeling that she's an "istaphobe" should worry us all. That will eventually happen to you, even if you agree with those pushing this.
