Yes. The great disaster is obviously one of:
- 9/11
- Pandemic
- Facebook
- PRISM

Still, I think that the damage of his departure has been enough that the party will be unelectable with him as the candidate in the future.
I envy the hope in your eyes. You don't need to actually win more votes, you just need to suppress the votes of the other party, gerrymander districts, and when all else fails, storm the capitol with an angry mob and kill the elected officials who aren't on your side.

Yeah, he's likely not going to take the cake in 2024, and yet, if he did, I still could see him winning against Mr. Biden or Ms. Harris, TBH. Corporate democrats are becoming increasingly unpopular while we toil in poverty and crime and squalor and fighting at each other's threats. It's why anarchism is on the rise. And remember that would be coming four years off whatever Mr. Biden does, and people are going to remember what they disliked him in the first place.

If he can't make it through the primaries, then yeah.

Hope? It's not directly relevant to me, I'm not American, although still, I'd prefer it if he doesn't come back anyway. Right now that outside impression I've got is that his hardcore supporters are as hardcore as ever but they alone aren't enough, and the actions of his last days in office will have pleased them but alienated those who were closer to sitting on the fence. The Democrats would surely need a truly awful candidate to lose against Trump again.

There is no fence and there hasn't been a fence for years. Also, Democrats have no shortage of awful candidates. In fact, one of them won the presidency last year.

Yeah. To be brutally honest, Trump probably would have won a second term if he didn't fuck up his response to the pandemic.
