Big SW news/RJ Trilogy Still Happening/LF is a mess

What's going on, guys. I'm back with another comment, and I'm not sure how much stock to put into these rumors, but at the same time...

And it's not like she's just blowing smoke up our rear ends, either. She got into a Zoom call with Mr. Johnson and he pretty much said his SW trilogy is still happening. TBH, I do think that's the case, but that there's been no further official word from LF about this is just insanity. LF is one of the most badly run companies I can ever recall in my recent history. Personally, I'd always felt the trilogy was going to still happen, there is no way LF would ever want to validate what they call "toxic fandom" or "Russian trolls" or "the alt right." And in their rationalizations, that's the only people who hate their movies.

Mr. Johnson has made some good movies, don't get me wrong, he's just like Mr. Filoni - doesn't work well with already established universes. But canon and continuity has already pretty much been shredded into the dirt, spit on, and buried, so I'm curious to see what he'll bring to the table now. As I've said on numerous occasions, I returned to the theater to keep seeing what TLJ was all about, and I've felt if it was just toned down a bit, it could have worked a lot better. I hope Mr. Johnson has someone to do that this time, but I'm skeptical.

Actually, I think he could do well if he had a trilogy all to himself instead of trying to do the middle of a trilogy. He could plan things out from start to finish so his twists and turns seem to come from an organic progression of events rather than trying to go "psyche" with things that will clearly set up for payoff.

It comes down to subject matter. If it's an interesting subject matter than lends itself to some fun twists and turns, I think he could do well. Like you, I'm skeptical. However, I'm not going to hate the idea just because.

I'll believe Rian Johnson's trilogy when I see it. Its in the same category as the Rose Tico spin off at this point.

I'm not really a fan of Rogue One. While it has a strong third act, the rest of the movie is a hot mess, the characters are super thin, and you can practically feel the troubled production on the screen.

Yeah, I think JJ is a fine director but he loves his mystery box so much it gets in the way of the plot.

Y'know, objectively speaking, the ''best Star Wars film in 40 years'' should be almost universally beloved instead of splitting the fanbase straight down the middle, yes? And what amuses me is that if you go by both revenue and the general review score, the ''best Star Wars film in 40 years'' is actually TFA, proving that Star Wars fans were actually open to the Sequels before TLJ came along.

Rogue One is the best Disney SW film in the same way that Shazam or Wonder Woman is the best DC film since Nolan - in that, it isn't actually all that good, it just seems that way when you are the sole light bulb shining in the dark.

He is big nostalgic things in movies too. JJ to me is just a different flavor director to Michael Bay.

Rian Johnson and JJ have one thing in common IMO. They do better without a established universe to draw from (or not to draw from).

Rian Johnson might do better if he had his own trilogy or even just a stand alone movie. Provided all his Star Wars characters are entirely new and don't interact with anything or anyone established. Last thing I want to see is him subverting expectations by saying Chewie is actually female or R2D2 is actually a mech with a mini alien driving him or Mon Mothma is the sister to Palpatine. Or whatever subverting expectations crap can be thought upm
