Gina Carano fired

Plus, I got no evidence that there was a mob wanting to take her down. Your evidence is someone made a comment she over reacted too, and your thought is a mob went after her for it? Shouldn't she be responsible for her actions?

I love that Crimson condemns Trump but goes on to support his rhetoric anyway.

Yeah I know Trump's bad, but the Democrats doing what right-wingers hate is the reason Star Wars sucks, and soon enough the right wing will resort to coalition essential political positions again.

There's Twitter mobs everywhere. Example, #FireGinaCarano and #FireRosarioDawson were both cut from the same cloth, they fell into a belief set that the two women were transphobic, so they slandered them and got one dismissal to stick because she stuck her foot into her mouth. If Ms. Dawson does the same thing, you can bet it's curtains for her.

The inverse would be the #FireKathleenKennedy crowd. They become just as narrow-minded as they claim to hate in the other side, since I am of the persuasion these issues facing the IP will outlast her, so it's just a temporary fix and a brief feel-good measure that won't go anywhere. The only difference being the one wants more social themes in the IP because they think it's lacking, when you can use past instances to prove otherwise, and the other is more driven by fear that the final product is being run into the ground. Guess which belongs where?

Let's be clear. Ms. Carano was bullied. That you should have thicker skin doesn't mean she wasn't. Same for Ms. Tran. Unlike right or left, I'll call 'em both as I see 'em, equally unacceptable. Same for Mr. Lloyd and Mr. Best. My problem with the #FandomMenace is they like to act as if Ms. Tran wasn't bullied, nor was Mr. Lloyd and Mr. Best except by a few outliers to fandom. It's every bit the historical revision they say they dislike in LF and the MSM.

My problem is as a society, when we're treating all political opinions as some monstrous betrayal, thanks to increasing technological infiltration, then that's a sign of something far more sinister lurking under the surface.

Another thing about all the blue checkmarks, "racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic right-wing push-back." How often in the history of fandom has there been backlash to the direction a franchise was taking? Quite often. But in today's era, at least as far as I can tell, what they do is lash out at you, you're a horrible person because you didn't like this. Character attacks. Look at something like DBS compared to DBZ or DBGT. That got a significant amount of fan criticism because the writing is poor, let's not kid ourselves. Even GT is held up as a good high-water mark now. But do you see the Japanese creators mocking their fans to hit all these blue checkmarks?

No. When really, think about it, the older DBZ was like a boys-fest power fantasy, and you can see a lot of those subtle themes, but in the end, the Japanese take the high road and don't talk down to the fans. This is why they just seem like smarter businesspeople, at least IMO. It's why so many nerds from the classic era have flocked to Japan, because they're just taking classic geek hits and stripping them down to give to outsiders, for profit. Japan at least still cares about a good final product, despite criticisms you could give (like the horrible working environment).

Yeah yeah we get what you're saying. "We live in a society", blah blah blah.

Hmm, Captain Crimson making an effort to lay out his position, and those responses. My opinion that certain segments of society are utterly unwilling to bother considering anything not 100% aligned with their prejudices has been increased, yet again.

I don't mind jest. And unpopular opinion. I prefer Mr. Phoenix's Joker to Mr. Ledger's. 8-)
