I don't see how it could possibly work as a movie, not without severely truncating it and spoiling half of what works for the story.
Repetition works in video games, up to a point at least. There's no problem going to several different planets collecting pieces of what you need, learning about your crew along the way. For a movie there needs to be a rising action. You couldn't spend time on all those planets, and you'd almost certainly have to cut a couple out. The Revan story needs a lot of build up and background, and after you introduce the villains and Bastila, there would be almost no time to get to know their crew.
Or to put it differently, the core of the story is a good one, and it would work as a movie. But the core of the story is all you would really get.
If you were talking about more than one movie, then there's a bit more potential there I think.

Thanks that's exactly what I was thinking off.Agent Vinod wrote:http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/New_Sith_WarsHero_Of_Shadows wrote:I agree with what you're saying vis-a-vis the scale of SW, but imho the fact that KOTOR is only games + some comics + (a very good) RPG setting means that it is still known by a very small amount of people, so I see doing a KOTOR movie not like re-treading old ground but introducing a hell of a lot of people to that period.Agent Vinod wrote: SW is a big enough brand. Just do a new era, do not remake KOTOR. Or make KOTOR 1 and 2 canon and follow somoeone in the Unknown Regions and you get to meet Revan and the Exile.
If we're talking about other time periods of the old republic that would be interesting there was a series of wars that was basically the crusades in space !!! + jedi and sith, I can't remember the name of the period right now but it was just before Darth Bane entered the scene and created the modern sith.

KOTOR the Movie, hell no. The game simply isn't formatted right for a movie - it's a series of fetch quests followed by scavenger hunt. That's only interesting because you're controlling the the dialog, choosing how to play the character, deciding how to resolve the quests etc. I've watched part of a KOTOR the Movie someone put up on youtube and I just think it falls flat when you're not the one controlling the character.
Revan the movie... that might be interesting. The Fall and Rise of Revan trilogy... or duology. I'm not sure how I'd break the story in thirds... Revan in the Mandalorian Wars, Revan as Dark Lord, Revan as amnesiac? The third really would be a odd for the audience. I'd love to see someone try it, but no one has ever managed to pull off something like this to my knowledge. Movies tend to cover a few days or a few weeks, I'm not sure how you could cover Revan's sprawling story. Might be interesting to see someone attempt a bit of an art movie,
a "32 Short Films About Revan" kinda thing, just trying to capture indicative moments in his life, maybe link them with a few captions to set up what has happened between the little vignettes.
Frankly, I'd rather just have someone just make sure the game keeps getting ported to the latest machines so we'll always have that rather than see someone try and fail to convert it into a movie.
