Chuck said that putting windows in Cloud City is a good. Scenes that are put in out of nowhere to give special effects doodads in scenery are distracting from the story I think he said in New Hope review when it shows a couple stormtroopers wandering on tatooine with their animal carriers.

I pretty much agreed with his assessment of the changes; there were one or two nice touches (generally the least in-your-face noticeable ones).

I'm curious what you think of Alderaan blowing up? You can't tell me the original was better unless you're arguing simply out of nostalgia. Because objectively speaking, the updated explosion looks way better. Period. In fact, I notice that a lot of the comparisons to the original effects versus the remastered ones is... they did not hold up well, and Lucas was right to say that. I think the benefits we got more than made up for the stupid things.

The death star explosions as well. And then there's the obvious sharpening of visuals like the X-wings in formation. Then there's the thickening of the lightsabers. I mean I could still buy that a lightsaber would fuck you up even if it wasn't that bright lol, but it gives more ooomph imo without being distracting.

I think Chuck was right to say that in the end, a lot of the changes weren't bad, and that if Lucas hadn't futzed with the story, that it'd lead to a lot less fanboy bitching. With that said, I don't mind the changes. I love 'em. All of 'em. And that's my nostalgia talking. The 2004 Special Edition, though... I don't mind adding the Gungans on Naboo, but... I can respect that kids who grew up with the prequels now see Hayden as Anakin, I really do, but... it just doesn't... sit right with me. Given Hayden's bad performance.

The change I hate to like the most is just the song at the end of RotJ.

I love that! Yub Nub can suck it.

Sorry Yuka but Yub Nub is classic so I agree with BridgeConsoleMasher when it comes to this.
