Same logic applies to Star Trek. Yet Trek gets a kinder reboot than Star Wars does. Why? Simple. Because it was mostly a series of movies and TV shows. And who the hell has time to read in today's world past nerds?

I don't get your logic. For one SW never got reboot even if you might think it that way and one that ST got isn't that liked among ST fans to point that some are still angry about it. ST movies before reboots were all made with casts from TV series with some cast members even having involvement in those. Also you are implying that only nerds read while ignoring everyone else who isn't nerd and reads and every nerd who doesn't read. Because both groups are still thing. Then there is fact that not everyone even has time to read anymore and that includes nerds as well.

I have heard about at least some of the Episode 9 rumors and I am not happy about them. They do not give me confidence that the movie will be good but instead makes it sound like they are going to finish killing off the OG characters and try to replace them with their own characters.

Their boring, lame characters that no one likes.

Star Wars was never rebooted. That is the sad thing. Udder sucking Luke is all canon.

Winning or losing lightsaber duels are hardly the be-all end-all, but it's still pretty amusing to me that according to these leaks, Kylo and Rey have more than one confrontation (a couple of them may be pretty minor skirmishes) and Kylo never once gets the better of her.

I just don't understand how they think they can present their villain as at all menacing if the hero fights him something like 4 times and wins every single time, and that's not even counting being made to look like a fool by Luke at the end of TLJ. It also shows Rey's development to be a complete mess, something many were already fearing after TFA and has only been confirmed by what we've seen thus far.

Still, I guess things can look different on screen and in context.

I'm honestly indifferent to this movie. If anything, I'm looking forward to some of the reviews.

Well, a lot of his fans don't consider Kylo Ren a villain, just a misunderstood boy in need of love, preferably Rey's. So far I am not seeing any signs of a romance between the two in the rumors for this final film so I am taking some solace in that.

I've already covered my thoughts on this in the post that covered this leak so here's the short version, Wow is this BAD!!! Like its not Holiday Special or Legacy of the Force bad, but it is BAD!!! Palpatine surviving getting blown up on a space station that blew up and he seems to just be dying of old age, oh yeah that doesn't undercut Vader's heroic sacrifice at the of Return of the Jedi. Leia being Rey's Force teacher having picked up skills from Luke before the events of the Sequel Trilogy, yeah THAT doesn't render locating Luke in 7 and 8 completely pointless.

Kylo getting turned to the Light Side after ONE conversation with his Han, a none Jedi AFTER Revenge of the Sith made it a point that only someone with training could became a Force ghost (I give leeway to Anakin because he's the Chosen One and he did turn back to the light at the last minute)? Wow, that makes killing off Han beyond pointless since he could have just survived TFA and gone on to redeem his son HERE!

The whole Star Destroyer Death Star fleet is pretty much a "The Rebels have to destroy the Death Star before it destroys the galaxy again." Meaning that between this and TFA and TLJ this whole Trilogy is just a poor mans reboot of TOT done by people who never bothered to try anything NEW!!!

I'm taking all this with a grand of salt but lLike I said before, if this leak is true then this whole Trilogy is going to be seen as the weakest of the three and since Lucas put it in the contrast that Disney WASN'T allowed to reboot his films that means that we'll likely be hearing about that Thrawn Trilogy adaptation in five years or less.

Ray, Finn, Poe, BB8, and Rose are all boring characters that the films (so far) haven't really developed at all. Instead Ray gets a level up in every movie and the others just stay the same. I understand wanting to kill off a certain character due to real-life events but the other stuff I just don't see or understand. All of these new characters pretty much suck, in my opinion.
