IIRC, they explained in there it was around the time of World War 3 (during or maybe just after it but before First Contact) and they abolished lawyers for trials or something along those lines.
It doesn't make sense in the episode either.

Think about how this takes place a century after Kirk and crew, so the Federation has existed out in a vast section of space for a long time, and the Q have to dive back into pre-warp era to find something to complain about and illustrate the weakness of man?

Then why are the time traveling space titans talking to Picard then? Why not destroy humanity when they were all still on Earth DURING WORLD WAR 3?

If anything that should be a plot point in the show, that the idea of an unjust trial is what Picard will encounter at Farpoint and how he resolves it will be part of the test the Q are putting to humanity.

Its unfortunate that the videos are still down, but it's nice to have Allison bring her... unique perspective on the franchise. It's a good substitute for the time being. Sometimes I don't need a lot of analysis, I just need someone to rib on something in a goofy way.

I always did kinda prefer nonsense humor honestly, I guess that's why I like Lupa's stuff. It doesn't take itself too seriously.

I'd consider her pretty old school in the medium.

Chuck made a great point about that in the First Contact review about all of those supremely Milquetoast season 1 and 2 Starfleet officers who joined just to look at comets. I guarantee you that EVERY one of them died horribly once the Dominion rolled around.

Selena Gomez is a great example. If she didn't quit Starfleet after being kicked off the Enterprise, I can see her being transferred to somewhere like AR-558. An unknown moon for cannon fodder yellowshirts like her whose only skills are spilling coffee and fixing radios.

My relationship with Voyager is complicated. I love everything about it except for the show part!
How does she get off being so eloquent and succinct? xD

Also, honestly? For some reviews, fart noises are exactly the appropriate level of discourse.

PS: Didn't realize how thirsty i was for Janeway x Kess femslash >_>

Kes lacks the organs to have sex like a human so I am not sure how interesting an accurately written story would be. And Kes is 1 to 3 years old depending on the season (which in Ocampa years makes her 10, 20 or 30), so lets hope that middle-aged Janeway is having sex post season 1 otherwise we would have to add ''paedophile'' onto her list of offences... which being as fond of Fridge Logic as I am, Neelix is CANONICALLY a pedo if you look at it from a certain point of view.

Okay, as far as interspecies sex, I'm going with the Captain Jack Harkness rules. Age-of-consent is determined by maturation point of the species, not by human age. And so what if the bits don't precisely fit together? Any experienced space explorer can tell you that all you really need is fingers and a tongue.

So you are fine with, say, a 35 years old having sex with a 14 years old?
